To buy ‘may contain’ food labels for catering large event

I’ve been tasked with buying the snacks for our primary school disco. Biscuits, popcorn, squash, sweets etc….

instructions are that biscuits must not contain milk, nuts, seeds. AIBU to buy if they say ‘May contain’ on the label but not listed as an ingredient? Struggling to find biscuits that don’t say this. Catering for 300 kids and some have severe allergies to milk and nuts.

Also double check the labels on free from foods as they aren't free from everything.
Some have no allergens at all whereas other are free from gluten and nuts but contain milk.

Yes, my dh gave our dd free from biscuits from Morrisons. He wondered why she was violently sick. It turned out that they contained milk. She’s allergic to milk. He hasn’t read the ingredients label. Just saw free from on the front of the packet and thought it was safe! Luckily she was ok.

I agree with this 100% as a parent of 2 children with severe allergies.

OP has clarified she's not talking about giving may contains to the DC with allergies, she wasn't sure if it was ok for other DC to have them.
