In December got word of 2 school trips
Wrote chqs & sent in with forms

Today I get phone call DD thinks shhe is going to XYZ trip

Yes says I she is

Oh says teacher you haven't paid

Yes says I I have

Checked chq stub - chq written
Checked bank - chq not cashed

So now DD is missing a once in a lifetime trip & it's all my fault???

DD is 10 & I do check her bag every few days to make sure stuff is handed in & never saw this envelope after I sent it in - plus DD & school apparently know all about DH wanting to help (so unusual for a dad to want to help)

So I think she should go - they say there are no places - they filled that last one last week - I ABU to think she should still go aren't I?

It looks as though you can get (afternoon) tickets more cheaply from ticketswitch.com via the Enjoy England website, though -- and Enjoy England is part of the national tourist office for the UK so I assume will only use reputable ticket agencies.

I had this happen to me (cheque lost) I know it was handed in by my daughter and then I got a snotty letter saying I hadn't paid so I went to the office and was told to my face that they had the cheque and would be cashing it that week but as it was a whole school trip they had alot of cheques to cash (as if I was being unreasonable to expect it to have been cashed when they were telling me I hadn't paid!!). Thankfully she got to go on the trip and to this day (2 years later) I don't think that cheque has been cashed. What made me angry was the fact that a cheque has all your details on it and I think the school should have taken more care - I always put my name and address on the back and of course it has your a/c no. sort code and signature and bank address. I may have got a free school trip in the end but who has my cheque with all my details on??????

I would be spitting too. The fact that they acknowledge receipt of one of the cheques would suggest that they lost it. I know school offices are busy places but I think that they are being totally unreasonable in not letting her go.
