How often are you tired?

I feel tired every day for most of the day. I'm aware of one medical condition which could contribute to this but its treated and been checked recently and its optimally managed. I dont sleep brilliantly, probably about 6 or 7 hours a night and I often wake up at about 3am or 4am.
Is this normal? I know everyone's different. I feel exhausted today, my body is just absolutely knackered.

There is not enough information to say whether this is normal or not. It will all depend on when it started, if they were any triggers and what kid of condition you have. Also what you perceive as being tired and if there are any other symptoms. And what your activity levels and your diet is like. Best to talk to you GP about options to manage sleep. I wouldn't expect anyone who wakes up at 4am to be bouncing up and down with energy throughout the day.
It is normal to feel tired. We all probably have parts of the day when we feel wiped out. All depends what's been normal for you so far.

Could it be low vitamin D or iron? I notice when these are low for me I feel very tired and worn out. Could also be the change in season? I always feel more tired this time of year, with it getting dark earlier. Also 4am and 5am is an early start! look at ways to improve energy levels throughout the day.

Sorry I should have said normally I do go back to sleep after the 3/4am wake up.
I have an autoimmune condition and chronic pain.

I honestly can’t remember the last time I didn’t feel tired!

I have insomnia and it’s a bitch. Currently going through a particularly bad bout. Keep getting hallucinations. I know it’s because work has been full on and I’ve ironically been too tired to exercise which is the only thing that keeps it at bay.

Chronic pain often goes hand in hand with fatigue. Ask your GP to refer you to a pain management service (not pain clinic!) and they will be able to support you with self-management of pain and fatigue.

Witchbitch20 · 12/10/2023 21:51

All the time.

I also wake every morning anytime between 3 and 4am and don’t manage to go back to sleep.

I am running on empty and it doesn’t feel great.

You have my sympathies.

Sigmama · 12/10/2023 21:54

I generally only feel tired at bedtime

DrCoconut · 12/10/2023 21:59

A lot of the time. I don't get enough sleep and I have low iron (struggle with absorption and tablets give me diarrhoea sorry if TMI). I also have really high B6 and that messes you up too. I'd love to be half as energetic as some people on here who are running 10k at 5am or something.

NotYeti · 12/10/2023 21:59

I'm always tired and have been since my teens (now late 30s). It sucks. I also have chronic pain so sleep is often weird. I too would like to know if there are people who aren't always tired or in some level of pain. 😅

updownleftrightstart · 12/10/2023 22:04

I don't have chronic pain or an autoimmune condition and am tired pretty much from the moment I wake up until I go to bed. It's rubbish :(

thelinkisdead · 12/10/2023 22:06

I’m almost never tired except at bedtime, but even then it’s just a background level of tiredness

burntoutnurse · 12/10/2023 22:06

I'm forever tired. But I work night shifts and peri menopausal.

lljkk · 12/10/2023 22:07

I'm tired After about 8:30pm most days, rarely tired the rest of the time.
I sleep terribly, don't eat great, but get lots of exercise.
No medical conditions.

Boredatwork1234 · 12/10/2023 22:10

I get tired a lot, I sleep pretty good most nights for 7-8hrs and need naps every few days or naps all the time if I’m under the weather. Been checked for loads of deficiencies and they said it’s actually just me. I’ve always slept a lot from being a teenager.

EverythingYouDoIsaBalloon · 12/10/2023 22:10

I suffer from delayed sleep phase syndrome and sleep apnoea and am tired more than 90% of the time, because my conditions mean it's virtually impossible to get sufficient sleep.

morag1234 · 12/10/2023 22:11

Most of the time.
I've been tired ever since I had my first kid (6 years ago).
I also developed epilepsy, which apparently makes you more tired (not sure if that's just the medication, or in general).
