To say DP cannot sleep in our bed tonight?

He's off out on a leaving do for his best mate from work, I'm 35+4 weeks pregnant and have been having niggles for a while, so he thought I was going to tell him not to go out anyway, but we've got MiL on standby and if I call, he is coming straight home.

Thing is, I know that when he comes in he will be drunk, he will smell of beer, and probably cigarettes because all his friends smoke, so I imagine he'll go outside with them when they have a fag.

He's also eating, I think, so might as well add garlic or something into that.
Plus when drunk he snores.
I've told him he has to sleep in DD's bottom bunk, it's not like he won't have a bed to sleep in, just not in my room.

But I feel quite bad about kicking him out!
AIBU? Or would you do the same?

BUT, showering and brushing their teeth doesn't acvtually work does it?
Last time when I was sick he tried all that and still stunk, it eminates from their breath and their skin. Yuck.

Because I am carrying his baby maybe?
Or because if he wants to go out that is fine but I'm not losing sleep over it? Or being sick over it?
Because the person who actually goes out should maybe have some consideration for the person at home?

No it doesn't, it just shows willing!

Deffo you should be sleeping in comfort, especially in advanced pregnancy.

mrsruffallo · 07/03/2008 14:20

I think yabu- but only because I find the small of lager and cigarettes a big turn on

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 14:21

LOL MrsR.

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 14:45

I'll bet! Every mans dream surely!

I think anyone who snores should be kicked out, on principle.

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 14:52

LOL, he never normally snores, just pinches the quilt so I'm ok with that.

YANBU, i'm sure he wont mind where he sleeps when hes drunk and why should you be turfed out of your nice comfy bed to sleep in a single bunk when your pregnant! i can imagine sleeping must be getting very uncomfortable for you by now, you need space, rest and undisturbedness (is that a real word? i dont think so but you get me right?)

LilRedWG · 07/03/2008 15:01

Ooooo - harsh Sobernow! She is eight months pregnant! Were she not, I would agree with you.

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 15:05

Can I also say, I would do the same for him, if I was going out and for some reason he didn't want to be disturbed.
Also he has offered to put a mattress in our room to sleep on every night so I can have mroe space but I've told him not to be so silly.

LilRedWG · 07/03/2008 15:07

He sounds like a sweetie! Enjoy having your bed all to yourself!

moodymammy · 07/03/2008 15:10

Well, it wont affect DD, it will affect me.
Surely the fact that I'm staying at home looking after the children whilst he goes out on the lash means he should do it for me?

Quite a few times recently I haven't been able to sleep purely because I'm so uncomfortable and rather than wake him up tossing and turning because he has work in the morning I go downstairs and read a book or catch a kip on the sofa should I expect him to put up with my tossing and turning as it's him that is bothered?

IMO the one who needs the sleep should be able to get it without the otehr interupting it, especially if it's because the oterh has been out on the town.

also means that when dd gets up she'll climb down and be so thrilled to find her dear dad in bed she'll give him a good old bounce/hug/shake

I like your thinking VS!!

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 17:13

It was her that offered him her bed actually, I said I had no problem with him going out as long as he had no problem with me moaning about beer breath and she said why doesn;t he sleep in my top bunk, which after DP and I had a giggle about him trying to get into whilst drunk got changed to bottom bunk.

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 07/03/2008 17:43

ah bless her, she sounds lovely

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 21:02

Nah, she just wants chocolate

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 22:09

I've just carried DS upto bed now and thoguht about putting him in DD's bed instead, and letting DP have his room.
Should I?

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 07/03/2008 22:18

VS what on earth are you doing carrying him up the stairs when you're this far gone anyway - good grief woman, you'll give me a heart attack!!

would ds mind being in dd's room, would he get a fright if he woke up during night or be quite pleased? do you have a way to inform dh of change of plan before he climbs in with the wee man and scares him witless?

which option is going to make your life easier in the long run?!

god, I think to much, all you wanted was a yes or no answer wasn't it

FanFKNTastic · 07/03/2008 22:21

Well, I don't think DP would climb on him!
If I left DS's door open and texted him now he'd realise.

Also I don;t think DS would care if he woke up in DD's bed, he was asleep on the sofa so wasn;t in his bed.

They might go straight into DS's room in the morning though, and then they;d wake DP up.
