I believe it's been going on for the last month (I think that makes sense as I completely forgot about something I did a month ago).
Anywho, I was appointed to do something new / lead a project about 6 months ago. It's finally going on OK, but it does have a LOT of moving parts (a colleague here and a colleague in the US, me stuck in the middle).
I had no clue of what was the original ask (I did ask my manager who told me something like "sky is the limit') so I took the matter in my own hands. Like I said it hasn't been perfect, but I've managed OK. Some other colleagues have bypassed the process and contacted my UK based colleague, I quite frankly didn't care as long as stuff was getting done. - the colleagues who bypassed me would sometimes get back to me to troubleshoot because I'm in continuous communication with my American colleague -... All of this was for EXISTING clients.
My American colleague visited and the whole idea was that I shadowed him so we didn't rely on him as much, again up to that point all ok. We also visited a new client, my American colleague (by now my new BFF) went rogue and did what would normally be the job of my British colleague. This was never the plan.
Then a second British colleague complained about that and how she took ownership of the situation (she is the client's dedicated POC BTW). Again this is for a new client so no process has been established.
So on that day that in theory I dropped the ball I should have been more responsive, but I was sick and tired (I had been travelling all week including a 6 hour train journey on that day, and I was sick with COVID I just didn't know it).
Up to this date, I still don't understand what my second colleague complained about (I'll ask her tomorrow). But surely people could cut me some slack? My manager has said that it was an "aberration" and she has said to not worry about it... BUT I want to move to my new BFFs team but my manager has blocked it .
So is this a rough patch or am I just being a drama queen?
