To want same day crowns (teeth)

Posting here as I got no replies in chat

Has anyone had same day crowns? If so please could you let me know whether they are any good or not and also the cost?

I need two front teeth crowns replacing and I dread wearing the flimsy temporary ones whilst the lab makes the new ones

thank you

I've just had a wait for my perm crown at the front, but it's only a week.

I know some dentists are 3d printing them for same day fitting - I'd want to know what they are made of. Maybe all labs are 3d printing them anyway?

Can't remember cost but less than £200. Dentist made them with an amazing computerised machine. Mine has been in for 6 months now.

I'm assuming these are temporary ones while you waiting for porcelain ones???

strawberry12345 · 09/10/2023 15:15

Thank you both

@Musicaltheatremum are you happy with the colour matching?

I have a same day ceramic crown, its on a large molar tooth. I can’t comment on the having it done as i had sedation as im phobic but in terms of look its perfect. I did have to have it slightly ‘filed down’ twice following fit as it was slightly bumping its opposing tooth but its been perfect since then.

Cerec are same day crowns. However they do have aesthetic limitations depending on what material is used .

Not all dentists will have the milling equipment and the amount of personalisation is limited.

In other words if it is a very front tooth and aesthetics are very important you will probably get a better result with a laboratory made crown .

strawberry12345 · 09/10/2023 15:17

@biedrona no they are permanent ones. You visit in the morning and they are produced by machinery on site in porcelain. Pop back a couple of hours later and have them fitted. It seems too good to be true!

@strawberry12345 it's quite far back for me but the colour match is ok.

Mine could be temporary but my dentist said the material they are made of is very strong and just as good.

I have just had a crown to a front tooth. Possibility of same day wasn't offered (didn't know it was thing) but my experience was very good. I had preparation and a temporary crown done and permanent crown made and fitted seven days later. Temporary crown was absolutely fine - well fitted, not flimsy, good colour match and no issues when eating or with appearance. I had expected to feel quite self conscious, but actually wasn't at all. I am absolutely delighted with permanent porcelain crown, the shape, colour and feel are all perfect and indistinguishable from my natural teeth. So if same day option doesn't work out, the process might be better than you fear.

Hmmm yes they are my two front teeth so important it looks good

I'd still prefer to wait for a lab version.
