ADHD medication Delmosart - terrible nausea…any advice?

DD 13 has been on this for 2 weeks and has been sent home from school frequently having terrible nausea.

No actual sickness and seems to be within the first 2/3 hours of taking it.

She wants to take it at 3am now to see if that helps as then will only feel sick at home in time for school 😢

Any advice?
She’s been having a full English breakfast most mornings / pancakes etc as not eating much throughout the day so perhaps the food is also too much but just not sure what to do really

Any advice appreciated

Is the dose too high? My DD takes this and was sick when the dose goes too high. Otherwise she does not get nausea although she does not feel hungry all day.

It’s 27mg.
Even on the 18mg she felt very sick an hour or so after taking it but not as badly.

Can I ask if your DD eats a lot beforehand?

My son is on this and has been taking it for around 3 weeks. He is now suffering from nausea and I wondered if it was "kicking in". He has been taking it with food before school. He's also got a terrible headache today and I've had to pick him up. I thought I'd keep an eye and make a note of symptoms before we see the consultant in a few weeks.

I’m sorry to hear your son is having horrible side effects.

I was led to believe it kicks in straight away, within the hour, which is why it’s surprised me that there are some days DD is okay with it; well passing nausea that she can cope with and other days where she is getting sent home from school and this was on both 18mg and 27mg so I don’t think the dose is making a difference nausea wise.

What dose is you son on?

Very hard to work when I’m constantly having to leave to collect her too 😢

It's a pain isn't it? He's on 18 mg with a review early November. Its hard to tell what's med related and what's not at this stage! I hear you with the daily calls from school.

Is this his first try on medication?

We were also prescribed Mediknet 10mg for weekends which we haven’t tried yet but if tomorrow is the same with the nausea I may switch to that until we see the specialist again

It is. It's been a very very long haul. Diagnosed with ASD at 3. Then ADHD appeared. Had a telephone assessment during lockdown of 2020 which they wouldn't formalise until they could do face to face. That took another year. Combined type diagnosis. Another year wait for ADHD nurse. Then a heart related death in the family meant a wait for cardiology. So a further year on and meds only started 3 weeks ago 😩. I feel we have to push through with it at least until we see the consultant in a few weeks. I'd maybe try to the Medikinet at the weekend and see how you go. I know it often takes a lot of tweaks to get it right but they can't keep coming out of school and also feeling rubbish. Defeats the object somewhat! I'd be interested to hear how you get on.

What tests did the cardiologist do?
I had to pay for a private ecg as we had a death in the family too but that’s all they advised - I’ve always been a bit worried about that
She is going to take it at 5am tomorrow to give herself more time at home for the sickness feeling to hopefully pass.
Youre right; completely defeats the object if now not in school because of feeling unwell!

He had an ECG and something else I can't remember. His heart is healthy. It was a sudden young death without any prior warning and a blood relative so he had to be checked (others were too). It was merely caution so I wouldn't dwell on that too much.

I hope she's got on OK today. It's so difficult when you're trying to make life easier for them but it doesn't go that way!
