Tell her now - the longer you leave it the worse you will feel about it!

It will be difficult to say, but if she is a friend surely she would understand?

mimi03 · 07/03/2008 08:48

dont worry flubdub, this isnt a namechange!

Well if she is a good friend then it seems a shame no to be able to invite her over, but not unreasinable at all to kindly request that she doesn't swear in front of your dc. Hmm, then again if her dc is swearing....
On second thoughts I would be a bit at having a friend who actually thinks it's acceptable for a 2yr old to be swearing.

shes not a close friend as far as im concerned, but shes very persistant at staying in touch with me if u see what i mean. i find some of her parenting choices, such as the way she talks to her kid, hard to listen too. shes a good person, but fails to see the significance of her bad language.

In that case yanbu, don't invite her over.

I have a bit of a gob on me at times. But would control it in front of children as should your friend.

poodlepusher · 07/03/2008 10:28

You are not being unreasonable. I know someone who was doing this in front of my DC who is starting to speak. I asked her twice not to do it. She continued. She has not been invited back (despite her own efforts to invite herself!)

YANBU.

My language is pretty atrocious to be honest because personally I don' find swear words that offensive. But I understand that some people do so I try not to swear in front of people I don't know that well. And definately in front of children as I think children swearing is awful.

At the momnet dh and I are trying relaly hard to curb our language and are pulling each other up all the time. I would be horrified if a friend of mine was considering not seeing me anymoire because of my language but hadn't bothered to tell me as if I had sworn in front of her child it would be an accident and I would not know I had done it - I would have apologised if I realised.

So what I am trying to say is please tell her. I would want to be told if it was me!!! If you are not that bothered about ehr friendship anyway then who cares if you offend her?

If she is obviously not bothered about her dd swearing then it may be that she will take offense but I guess thinking about how you say it might avoid that

Wisteria · 07/03/2008 10:40

YANBU but I think you should just ask her to refrain instead of just dropping her. That would be unreasonable.
