By not immediately removing the plaster from the cut on my finger when she demanded "Finger! Stuck! Off!" And grabbed my other hand to try to make me do it.

What? No of course YANBU.

She's 2, they cry over totally random nonsense at that age anyway. She will get over it (and aside from that, a 2 year old shouldn't be dictating when you do something)

Bearbookagainandagain · 08/10/2023 18:16

I think YABU... the same way I should have removed our garden fence immediately when it blocked my 2yo toy car yesterday, rather than asking him to go around. The complete melt down that followed was 100% my fault (and the neighbours for putting the fence up in the first place!)

Magenta82 · 08/10/2023 18:19

You monster! That is even worse than me making DD put on shoes before going out in the garden this morning!

Ours cried today because someone ate threw her bread on the floor, she threw it on the floor, stamped on it and said it was dirty, but yeah, my fault.

Oh my goodness YABU! My DGC was here yesterday and I made him cry because he wanted melon so I gave him melon, the melon was in the wrong bowl. Silly me, he swapped the purple bowl for the white one with rabbits on it which made his cousin cry because she wanted the white bowl. I tried to appease her with the white bowl with foxes on it but no she wanted the rabbit one. I cheerily waved them off home 2 hours ago 😂

yabu. Mean mummy

EveryKneeShallBow · 08/10/2023 18:44

Haha! Can you imagine Toddlersnet?

OctoblocksAssemble · 08/10/2023 18:49

The most apocalyptic melt down of my oldest at that age: I did not buy myself an ice cream. The weather had turned cold, I didn't want one. I still bought her an ice lolly, but because I did not buy myself a magnum same as last time it was the end of the world. Fond memories, although I did feel bad about traumatising the young check out lad in CoOp.

I think OP was being slightly tongue in cheek.

I made mine cry because I wouldn't let him drink from his water bottle that had a broken spout. He had broken it by biting it but the meltdown was something else.
I offered him a different cup and that was even worse.
I sometimes worry about what the neighbor's must think!

EmmaBQ12 · 08/10/2023 19:01

I made mine cry by dressing in her in a top with long sleeves that had 'nothing on it' ie no pattern. I'd normally let her choose but it was 5am and we were trying to leave for a flight. I think she woke up half the hotel screaming!

Cablescablescables · 08/10/2023 19:20

Dear Lord. How can you even look at yourself in the mirror??? The depths some parents go to to make their children unhappy. It's ok though, I'm evil too. My DC's worst meltdown was when I said 'I love you my little sausage' to them (very much as a term of endearment). That was followed by 2 hours of hysterical tears and rage, as they insisted they were NOT in fact a sausage.

Popsicle42 · 08/10/2023 19:26

I’m still feeling guilty that 7 years ago I made my 2 yr old cry because I insisted on putting his pizza in the oven, rather than letting him eat it straight from the fridge. I’m not sure I’ll ever forgive myself.

Curiosity101 · 08/10/2023 19:26

@Cablescablescables

as they insisted they were NOT in fact a sausage

This really did make me chuckle 😂

WeightoftheWorld · 08/10/2023 19:40

My DC2 is about to turn 2 and started shouting and crying in the pram the other day as we were about to leave the house for DC1's school run because "DONT LIKE IT SHOES!" whilst pointing out my new trainers.

OneLittleFinger · 08/10/2023 19:51

I made my 3yo cry a just before dinner as I wouldn't put medicine in her orange juice as she''d had it this morning. She was adament she hadn't and insisted I rectified the matter immediately.

vegsoup · 08/10/2023 19:57

Absolutely unreasonable, and how could you!!

Mine cried today because she wanted to be picked up, so I picked her up 🙃
