NC for this because my DP knows my usual name

not intended as a criticism of vapers - if it suits you, no wprries.

God, I wish I'd stuck to smoking...I didn't even smoke every day.

I started vaping this summer as I thought it would help me stop smoking, which I didn't do daily, never in the house, and maybe got through a pack a month. I really wanted to give up for him he gets so pissed off when I smoke, he said it was a dealbreaker when we met in fact but then changed his mind.

I feel like such an idiot because the last couple of weeks, I have been feeling very unwell suddenly, tested for covid etc. I thought that I was going off my usual flavours and didn't connect the dots.

For context, it would take me about three to four days to get through a disposable but I'm still confused about how vaping translates into numbers of cigarettes tbh.

I suppose the point is, I'm now on a daily nicotine habit. I have been feeling ill in a really weird way, but only put two and two together yesterday. I was at the gym and I just couldn't do anything. Bizaree feeling.

I looked it up and yes, I feel like an idiot, but the one of the big issues seems to be I have been inhaling a lot more nicotine than I was from a cigarette?

I kind of wish it wasn't so socially unacceptable to smoke. I like the odd smoke the way some people like a drink.

Obviously I've ditched my vape - now in the recycling box at the vape shop - but now wondering how lomg I will feel like shit. I can't even face dinner and was meant to have trout with almonds, which I love.

Hopefully I'll feel all right for work on Monday? I feel like I've got flu or something. Aches, pains, gastric issues. Tbh i had those yesterday, so probably more likely nicotine overload than withdrawal?

has anyone experienced this? Thanks. Feel free to have a go at me, I probably need the motivation. I think ive accidentalky added a poll but don't have a question really

I'm sorry you went through that, I hope you're feeling better💐

Not to get all tinfoil hat about it but vapes are incredibly addictive and I hate that they're being marketed as 'safe'. They are making some horrible companies so much bloody money, and I think in years to come people will start to suffer as a result of thinking vaping was fine. Breathing that shit in on a daily basis is NOT fine. Young people have been hospitalized because of the damage done by using vapes.

I respect that for some people it could be a stepping stone towards quitting smoking but I hate that vaping is thought of by so many as a safe alternative.

Thank you sadsack
im going to head to bed soon as I suppose it’s been a whole day with no nicotine!

re sounding like a nutter - yes I was aware of people saying governments want to swap smoking for vaping but didn’t pay attention

now it’s probably the biggest business on the high street

having read up on it, I know some people will hate it but it I feel like Joan Collins saying “I don’t think a couple of cigarettes after dinner every so often can be that bad”.

I imagine vaping would have caused a lot of wrinkles as well especially around my mouth.

the fact that a smoke has a natural finish point is helpful too.

I would probably find a cigarette to taste disgusting after vaping though. I suppose it’s a plus that I’m thinking of my health generally now.

Even if it's eventually proven they do nothing else to your body (doubtful), I think they must be bloody terrible for your teeth and gums. Nicotine leaves a faint yellow tinge and if you're vaping constantly it is going to stain. And ultimately it's a poison. I worried about oral cancers more tbh.

I've read and re-read your op now because I feel bad about misreading it before. You said you felt very suddenly unwell with flu-like symptoms, including a sudden loss of taste.

You've been vaping a lot for quite some time. But these flu-like symptoms are sudden.

Honestly... you've just got a nasty bug that's going round.

I'm really glad it's given you the impetus to quit smoking/vaping, that's an achievement and I think you ought to be really pleased, but it's quite illogical to pin your sudden flu-like symptoms on a nicotine overdose. It doesn't make sense at all, I just don't follow that, I think you're worrying over nothing (but obviously with a fab outcome, the quitting)

Mummy I don't think I've had a "nicotine overdose". Just that vaping is making me ill.

Loss of taste isn't what I said ...I kept losing the taste for whatever flavour vape I was on. I don't have a loss of the tasting sense generally.

I suppose I just really wanted to post in case anyone else feels a bit crap and vaping might be the reason. If I still feel ill in a week I'll update but I don't think I have a bug.

kids getting "nic sick" and feeling unwell suddenly seems to be a thing. I'm suitably embarrassed, believe me!
