To ask you to slap my face and bring me back to reality after holiday romance

I feel like I'm 17 again.

Been on holiday. Met a guy and we had a lovely time, said I'd probably be returning next year so hopefully see him again if he's around.

Obviously nothing is going to come of this. We live in different countries, lead different lives etc.

But quite frankly since I've come home I'm obsessed and it's driving me crazy now.
We messaged a few times since I've been home, it's dwindling off and am I'm trying to be cool, calm and collected and not keep messaging him.
Bring me back down to earth please. Why does our mind/hearts do this do us Grin

Maybe go for a walk and have a glass of water and come back and try reading the thread again.

The op asked for a slap in the face and nothing says reality check like a well placed speculum

Again, not something that’s ever had to feature in the reality of my sex life but we’re all different.

Poppysmom22 · 07/10/2023 12:49

what are you on about?! Op has never said they had unprotected sex. Have you never heard of condoms?

Aposterhasnoname · 07/10/2023 12:54

I married my holiday romance, as did someone I went to school with, and her husband, of twenty five years, is Greek.

Poppysmom22 · 07/10/2023 13:03

😆😆when will I learn to RTT!

You seem extremely confused.

Poppysmom22 · 07/10/2023 13:51

And I'm gonna go because I'm not confused or promiscuous as implied by @MiddleParking nor do I need to visit Specsavers - I've just been.

I will always think that taking sensible precautions after having sex with someone you have just met, protected or otherwise, is a good way to safeguard your sexual health.

Clearly that line of thought impugns my morality and my eyesight and such thinking should clearly be irrelevant when faced with the 'romance' of it all. 🙄

Steev · 07/10/2023 13:54

Have you seen kalimera peeps on Facebook? She's met a nice man in Greece this summer and is carrying on the relationship, all lighthearted but I'm enjoying her writing about it.

LuckySantangelo35 · 07/10/2023 13:54

@Poppysmom22

why would op need to get checked out at the Std clinic if she used a condom? Yes the risk of transmission isn’t completely eradicated but it’s very very small! Seems a bit OTT to me!

Did she say she's banged him? Maybe they didn't.

It was Greece not Turkey Grin what's the issue with Turkey?! I haven't been there but have considered it!

We are both late 30s, I have actually booked anything for next year, just ifs and maybes

Maybe I'll just day dream for a little longer and then let it go

If you have ever read Take a break ,there is an article every week it feels late me from an older women being romanced on ho!I'd at usually Turkey by an often much younger man
But they know its true love ....
Having said that I did work.with someone who married her Turkish holiday romance and they have Been together about 25 years now.

Poppysmom22 · 07/10/2023 14:01

@Steev good point TBF

gamerchick · 07/10/2023 14:04

Mixture of oxytocin and holiday buzz wearing off. Your brains craving those feelz again thats all like an addiction.

It'll wear off. Hope it was enjoyable at the time. Nowt like a bit of a blow out.

This happened to me nearly 10yrs ago. I was 37 on a singles holiday and had a lovely holiday romance with the hotel gardener! I thought it would fizzle out but we found ourselves texting and calling everyday and I missed him....... we're now married with 2 children. He emigrated to be with me after 2yrs long distance. Sometimes holiday romances just work!
