Hi all not really an aibu but put in here for traffic

I have ds1 (5years old) ds2 (1years old)

Today ds2 has come out in chicken pox has had 2 other cases at nursery so he will not be going to nursery any time soon.

However my concern is school for ds1. Ds1 has never had chickenpox before even though being around areas that have had cases and close contact with someone who had them (before we knew). Do I send ds1 to school on Monday if still showing no spots and put the other kids at risk if he is infect but not show signs at that point or do I keep him off

The incubation period is like 21 days, you can’t keep your child off that long. Just keep checking them over and over and keep off at the first sign of a spot.

Yes you send him in. The incubation period is several weeks and even then he might not catch them so until he shows actual symptoms he should go to school.

This was my theory but dp has said we can't send him. Ds1 already in a warm bath to see if any come out and will do this twice a day to try and keep on top of and try and catch it earlier to attempt to minimise the risk to others but like you have said the incubation period is so long if he does he's probably infected people already.

Honestly you are overthinking this.
He goes to school till spots appear.
