Not to tip the hairdresser?

I don't tip the hairdresser (large chain, different person each time) as I pay so much for highlights and a cut that I really can't afford to. Yet I always feel guilty when I leave and that they somehow expect a tip. Does anyone else tip?! AIBU?

I always tip, especially the junior who washes my hair and gives the scalp massage. I tip her in person. At the till there are compartments with the stylists names where you can leave a tip (or not) without the possible embarrassment of not seeming to tip enough.

I always tip a fiver. The haircut is £63 (wash, cut and blow dry) which I think is expensive. I'm tipping under 10% but I think a fiver is enough! I also tip £3 to the woman who washes my hair.
