To want a cleaner that will pick my clothes up off the floor?

Dp and I work very long hours during the week. We’re out of the house 9-10 minimum. We eat dinner in the office. When we get home we’re exhausted and just want to sleep. So often the kitchen has our breakfast stuff. We’ve left clothes on the floor. There might be sunday’s dishes on the table. The laundry has been left out drying.

We earn an OK salary and have a tiny flat to save money, so a cleaner coming 2-3 times a week for two hours a time won’t be an issue.

But obviously I’m slightly embarrassed for someone to see my home in such a mess. Are there any cleaners who will sort all of this? Pick up the clothes, put them on to wash, load the dishwasher, and clean the bathroom etc?

A cleaner cleans. You need a housekeeper/ cleaner combo.

ProvisionsOnTheDock · 03/10/2023 22:22

You don't need a cleaner for that, you just need a routine. It's basic stuff. Sunday's dishes get done on Sunday night. Breakfast dishes take 2 minutes to rinse. Clothes get rehung or put on a chair rather than the floor. And so on.

MouseMattress · 03/10/2023 22:23

I am sure there are cleaners who will sort the dishwasher, wash bedding etc. But leaving clothes on the floor is a bit slobby. Surely you can just do that bit yourself!

It feels vaguely disrespectful to ask another adult to do this for you, even if paying them.

WhateverMate · 03/10/2023 22:24

You're not children, you don't need to be throwing your clothes on the floor.

2 adults should be able to tidy up enough for the cleaner to clean. Some will wash up if agreed in advance.

Wtafis · 03/10/2023 22:24

My cleaner does yes. She’s a goddes
obviously we have to pay for longer hours as she has to tidy before she cleans

I agree with this.

surely 9-10 hours out of the house is standard really for most people with full time jobs?

Dramatic · 03/10/2023 22:24

Have you never heard of a laundry basket?

Gnomegnomegnome · 03/10/2023 22:25

You both just sound lazy.

Beezknees · 03/10/2023 22:25

Asking someone to pick up your clothes off the floor isn't on. It takes 10 seconds to put them in the wash basket, no excuses. I'm a lone working parent and I manage it.

SprogTakesAQuarry · 03/10/2023 22:25

Just be upfront about it from the start. Some cleaners hate tidying up, some don’t mind. I think if you have realistic expectations re time, and are honest about it then you should be able to find someone.

Teddleshon · 03/10/2023 22:25

How is the cleaner supposed to know what to do with the clothes ie washing basket, dry cleaning or back in the wardrobe? I can’t imagine being so busy that I would expect anyone else to pick my clothes up off the floor.

EpitomeofEpiphany · 03/10/2023 22:26

You need a tidier and cleanee, they exist

Gloriousgardener11 · 03/10/2023 22:26

I’m sorry but this sounds rather lazy, you need a routine for such basic things as dishes and used clothing.
You have a tiny flat and there are two of you for goodness sake, cleaning is a whole different ball game.

olympicsrock · 03/10/2023 22:26

agree that it’s disrespectful and slovenly to leave your clothes on the floor. Can’t you put them on a chair or in the dirty linen basket. You sounds incredibly lazy.

TheShellBeach · 03/10/2023 22:26

Can't you do that yourselves?
Why do you throw your clothes on the floor?

FiveShelties · 03/10/2023 22:26

9-10 hours and you have already eaten dinner when you get home and you have no time to pick up clothes from the floor??

Course you do.😁

00100001 · 03/10/2023 22:26

How hard is it to put laundry in a bin in the same room? Lazy fuckers.

LemonWaterSugar · 03/10/2023 22:27

I think you're after a personal assistant / housekeeper really

Zamphina · 03/10/2023 22:27

Sorry 9am-10pm. And often it’s 6:45AM-10PM or even later.

Yes, you want to advertise for a housekeeper rather than a cleaner.

00100001 · 03/10/2023 22:28

What do you even do?

Bobbybobbins · 03/10/2023 22:28

Surely most people are out 9/10 hours for a day's work? I get not having a spotless house but surely dishes and clothes not on the floor are pretty basic!!

TiredMamOfTwo · 03/10/2023 22:28

Surely you can take two seconds to put in a laundry basket? That's just sheer laziness.

HongKongGarden · 03/10/2023 22:28

I’m sure that some will be happy to, but it does seem very strange that you’re comfortable leaving your dirty knickers on the floor all week.

Is it not worth dropping them in the laundry basket given how unpleasant the alternative is and how little effort it takes?

Beezknees · 03/10/2023 22:29

It's unreasonable to leave clothes on the floor for someone else to pick up no matter how many hours you work.
