Annoyingly got covid again at the moment, last time I found I caught bug after bug in the months after covid, trying to avoid that this time and just wondered do others do anything to boost themselves a bit after being unwell?

I eat loads of greens especially watercress the large kind, red meat, oily fish, lentils. Mushrooms...only food source with selenium in I think.

I generally go into ‘I’ve a cold’ mode, so as much types of fruit, spinach, broccoli (raw), I try and have steak to build up and I take phosphor (a tonic). I also make myself stay away from screens and get to bed early and read a book! Hope you feel better soon x

Lots of good nutrition (especially green veg and dark-skinned veg like beetroot and purple broccoli), take vitamins, serious rest. The latter was the only thing that got me finally out of post-viral fatigue syndrome.

FourEyesGood · 01/10/2023 17:50

Lots of sleep. Good food. Lots of water.

Amabilis · 01/10/2023 17:51

Lots of fruits and veg, kefir, sleep, being nice to myself and doing things like having early evenings on the sofa in pyjamas and blanket like a giant baby.

sunglassesonthetable · 01/10/2023 18:50

Sleep, kefir, simple food.

I take echinacea, it's a herbal supplement that boosts the immune system.

Sleep

Water

No alcohol

Lots of spinach and veggies

I was quite poorly a few years ago (not covid-not life threatening) and my consultant told me to treat myself as if I were a small child, lots of fruit and vegetables, wrap up well and get fresh air, early nights, warm baths, and anything that cheered me up.

I still try to follow this as it’s almost like a hug to your soul.

Gosh, no advice but I'm with you right there. Currently have Covid, and it's been horrible with a headache that felt like a sledgehammer on my brain. In the last year, I've had about five colds, some kind of sinus infection, Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease, the flu, Strep A, an abscess...it's been insane. I nearly cried in disbelief when my Covid line came up earlier this week...

Dita73 · 01/10/2023 20:05

Metatone Tonic. It’s really good stuff

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 01/10/2023 20:06

In the same boat,I'm taking multi vitamins plus Metatone tonic and Zinc to help with loss of smell/ taste.

After acute covid, the single most important thing you can do is rest.

It is likely you'll catch everything for a while after (several illnesses cause a dip in immune function after, but covid is remarkably good at that and it's counted in months not weeks). If you really want to lessen that, then wear a mask in crowded indoors places and lobby for the provision of better ventilation (reduces colds, flu as other respiratory viruses) plus hand hygiene (noro and other D&V)

penelopelady · 01/10/2023 20:20

McDonald's, with a milk shake.
empty calories plenty of salt and sugar after something which has laid me low.
This gives a bit of a energy boost with hydration. Means I don't have to expend energy cooking and then I eat things like stew, plenty of veg in them, easy to cook just put everything in the slow cooker or pressure cooker. Filling and tasty and can do a couple of meals.
Lots of tea
Water
Biscuits.
Sleep, sleep and more sleep.

C1239 · 01/10/2023 20:33

How long should you take metatone for? Can you take it alongside other vitamins? D for example

Dita73 · 01/10/2023 21:16

I think you can take Metatone for as long as you like and whenever you like. I always have a bottle in the cupboard

C1239 · 02/10/2023 09:31

Is it similar to Sambucol?
