Parking issues what to do?

I live in a city where parking is on street resident permit holder. Issue is I live near a church and every time they have an event a few of the attendees parking either in the resident parking bays which means me and others on the street cannot or they then park on double yellow lines, end of junctions and even over the dropped curb pedestrian crossing bits.

I've spoken to the church before and the council and nothing changes (I'm sure they remind people but some events such as those for kids are not always attended by those who go for church service). I've emailed the manager again as its really stressful and sometimes they've parked right across or wait in junctions meaning I can't even leave my street.

Any tips?

Put notices on their cars? Apart from the danger issue, can you not just park further away on those days?

Why should she?

It's ashame there isn't a local traffic warden, you can message to ticket them.

So the op and other residents (with a permit, paid by them maybe?) need to park further away so parishioners who don't live there can park close to the church

Right?

Potc - the bicycle suggestion was not a joke, not everyone needs a car if they live in a city, and then parking is never an issue

Sigmama · 30/09/2023 11:44

Lucky lavender, why should she not park further away, a residents parking permit is not ownership of the road, we all have to share space, cities are busy places

Print up some flyers and stick them on car windscreens and lamp-posts
Keep complaining to police and to council
Keep complaining to church officials
Go into church during service and ask for cars to be moved.
Buy some of those cones schools use on sports fields and put them in residents parking places with "resident parking only" on them

If you’re blocked in, the council might come and literally remove the vehicle. At least, that’s what happens in my borough.

Presumably because the OP pays for the privilege of having a residents permit. They aren’t free. Unlike the CF parking dangerously

All the streets near me have permits for their street only. So I live on street A and can park there but it isn't valid for street B, C etc so I cannot park further away. So if I parked further away I'd then be illegally parked myself and I won't be doing that. I've emailed church and will phone council tomorrow with peak times etc as like someone mentioned its easy money for them.

Write messages on big, very sticky labels and stick them in the middle of the drivers part of the windscreen. Hard to peel off. This is what what some supermarkets do where commuters start parking in their car park all day.
