Nursery have asked to see me

My DC is 3.5. Their last term review was via telephone as was everyone else's as it was posted in the app to make a telephone appointment.
This term I have been private messaged to come into the nursery to have a chat for their review to discuss their development/progress.
Their last review was very positive just that my DC needs to work on reading other children's social cues.
Does it sound like they want to discuss a concern? Do they always do this in person? If you were told your child might have SEN or something like that do they ask to discuss it this way?
Or am I overthinking? AIBU?

If imagine .they have started F2F reviews like a "parents evening " I wouldn't worry too much or over think it.

Starlightstarbright2 · 29/09/2023 20:19

Definitely overthinking - have you had any inclining about SEN … it’s a massive leap from a review to SEN

Coffeaddict · 29/09/2023 20:20

Mine used to do phone with covid but have gone back to f2f.

I wouldn't think too much of it

Octoberfest11 · 29/09/2023 20:20

No not at all. Only that my friends DC goes to the same nursery albeit down the road but same company and she said her review was by phone

It sounds like they're just doing face to face appointments this term.

Excited101 · 29/09/2023 20:24

Have you got SEN concerns op?

BBno4 · 29/09/2023 20:25

They have to do it for ofsted. They will go through his next steps and where he is at.

humpty74 · 29/09/2023 20:26

The different key people might prefer phone or in person?

If it is to discuss possible sen it will just be about providing support to help them do well. It's far better if there is a difficulty for it to be picked up on in such a supportive and communicative environment than when they start school.

Octoberfest11 · 29/09/2023 20:31

No SEN concerns. But then I'm not a professional. Thank you everyone sounds reasonable enough clearly just overthought it when my friend wasn't having f2f

I think you're over thinking it. It always used to be standard to have these things face to face. They might have a little file of photos and your child's 'scribbles' to show you, with progress notes to show you.
Do you secretly suspect your child has SEN? That's the only reason to jump to this conclusion.

Mariposista · 29/09/2023 21:11

Unless there are glaringly obvious signs (which you would probably have noticed yourself), I wouldn't automatically think they want to slap him with a SEN label. Most likely they want to catch up in person, or perhaps there may be something a bit more sensitive to say (such as a behaviour issue) that they would rather say F2F. SEN isn't the only reason they ask to see parents in person.
