Any police officers here in the west Midlands?

I've reported an uninsured and unlicensed driver of a vehicle to 101 live chat about 2 months ago. Aside from this he drives dangerously, over taking vehicles and speeding etc
The person is still driving around in the same vehicle, he clearly hasnt been pulled over yet.

Any chance I can send you over the vehicle details and you can make sure it's actually on your system to be pulled over?

No police officer is going to access police systems based on info from a mumsnet poster. You have reported it, you can continue to report if you see him still driving.

Honestly, I wouldn't bother. I reported a car without MOT and insurance for driving into me on an island and driving off. This was a year ago. My friend works for WM Police, she got someone in the correct team to check the system and the case had been closed with no further action. They hadn't even contacted me.

West Midlands Police are fairly useless.

They dont need to pass me any information just re log information I relay to them.
Personally dont see the harm in it

Can you not contact the force directly to log it or check it’s logged?

@EddieMunson do you know how I would do this?
I've been using the 101 live chat feature but it takes ages to get through and I mean sometimes hours

Honestly I don't think they bother.

It's a bit like speeding. They just rely on the cameras to get people. I can understand that a bit more, because stopping people is dangerous for all sorts of reasons, especially on motorways.

They drive around in the squad cars and get their quota from the auto number plate recognition. So as long as a cop car does not pull up behind them and check out the plate they will probably get away with it.

@GasPanic it's so frustrating for drivers that actually bothered to pass their tests and pay insurance! 😤

If he's uninsured he'll be flagged by ANPR cameras anyway. Unless an officer is right there to pull him over how else do you suggest they catch him driving uninsured/unlicensed. They won't just take your word for it as there are malicious reports.

ThereIsNoTomorrow · 29/09/2023 11:03

@KateyCuckoo the vehicle is insured on the data base, it is on a trader's policy. He isnt insured to drive because he doesnt have a driving license though so not really fair is it that people like him go unpunished just because the car shows its insured taxed and mot'd.
