To not return call to grumpy sounding voicemail

...my husband and I are separating and I have been getting in contact with some solicitors to get some legal advice and decide which one to go with to represent me.

I left my details on a couple of the contact forms on their websites this morning and someone has just left me a voicemail to ask me to call them back but they sounded bored and annoyed and it's just made me not want to call them back. Why would I want to talk to them about my finances and delicate information when they don't seem to consider how they are coming across.

I expected them to sound professional and supportive. Are my standards to high?

Am I just being over sensitive and shouldn't rule a company out based on their tone?

If I had several options to call back, I would definitely choose them last. Maybe not rule out completely, if their work is good and fees competitive you could be cutting your nose off to spite your face.

I agree with you. You're going to handover personal information and you want to know that person is someone will be happy talking to.

I've always judged people who make no effort to enhance their voice when speaking on the phone etc.

When there's only your voice to go on it's important to speak extra clearly, possibly a bit more slowly and to have a bright delivery - a 'smile' in your voice, it appropriate, but definitely not a miserable drawl.

I wouldn't call back!
