To feel annoyed work call when signed off

Iv been in sick leave and my boss is calling me constantly
every day
sometimes for the same information
it’s made me feel so anxious as she is saying I haven’t given her information that I have and it makes me worry about being blamed
I feel like handing my notice in which I don’t want to do but I feel like I can’t do it anymore

the only thing is in a message I did say I didn’t mind because iv been so worried

Just want to say good luck. I was contacted Mon to Fri even though I only did 2 days a week finally had enough after being back a week and resigned as someone did part of my job wrong which I had to correct plus catch up on other work when I had no spare time !!!

Fine for you maybe, but not for others.
It's good stress management not to work at times when you are not supposed to be working. Just reading an email or taking a call from a superior can raise your blood pressure.

If you are suffering from so much stress, maybe the role is not for you and you should direct your energy towards a role more suited to your sensibility?

If ONE email is causing so much drama, you can't handle a full work day worth of email, can you.

In an ideal world, no one would need to call anyone. Instead of blaming the "boss" for making a phone call, can you honestly say that you have documented everything and everything is easily accessible to anyone in the office?

Too often, while people more or less prepare for annual leave, but nothing in case of a "sickness" that leaves them too ill to real an email, but well enough to debate on forums. No one would tolerate a late payment or an absence form not signed-of because someone is sick.

The whole point is that the doctor has decided she should not be doing a full day of emails!

It's not 'a' phone call, it's daily phone calls.
It's the doctor who has decided that she can debate on forums, but not work and it's not for you to comment on that. Where would it end? You can cook a meal so you can come to the office?

As an employer/manager I would be horrified if one of my staff was being called about work when they are off-sick - except in a DIRE emergency the person should be left alone (I also hate company policies where the member of staff has to phone in sick each day - phone in on the first day, phone me the day before you plan to come back, otherwise get better!). Having said that, not everyone thinks and feels the same way about sick leave (just look at the answers here) so the next time your boss calls I want you to be really, REALLY brave and just say, 'hey, no problem I can help with that as I'm on the phone right now anyway, but could I ask that you don't call me again until I'm back as its affecting my recovery?' if they persist then its an HR or senior manager call you need to make. If you really can't bring yourself to do it during the call, a short email cc'ing in everyone relevant explaining the date of your sick note expiry and/or the date of your next doctors visit and that you'll update them then, but otherwise you would really appreciate the daily phone-calls stopping as they aren't helping your recovery - don't get upset, just take practical steps to sort it out, I promise you'll feel better once you have!

But crap happens, in the end of the day it is only a job! What if the OP would quit/die? The boss would need to crack on and get things sorted without getting OP involved.

Bang out of order, and if I remember correctly illegal. As someone else has posted contact your union or CAB, they shouldn’t be doing this.

Employment law is not criminal law, so how can this tactic be classed as illegal?

When she calls, tell her that you will email the requested information. That way there's a paper trail and, if she asks for it again, just refer her back to the email.

But if you have a HR department, it might be wise to contact them as you shouldn't be contacted while on sick leave, especially this frequently that it's making you more unwell.

why would anyone make a strong point to show how replaceable and how unwilling to help they are.. is beyond me. I am guessing you are a 9 to 5 on the dot kind of person?

And what is wrong with being 9-5 person? This is indeed the working hours I am being paid to do yet I regularly hear insults towards people who chose to maintain boundaries and a healthy work-life balance. Being off sick is time to recover, not the time to be taking daily phone calls about issues that have already been addressed. I spent my 20s taking calls at 4 am with requests to prepare information ready for 8am staff meeting. Do you know what my reward was for doing this work? More work. I am now a lot more boundaried and a lot happier and productive as a result. I even had an audacity to take 2 days of sick leave for the first time in 20 years.

Are you sick because you can’t mentally reply, or because you can’t physically attend the office/workplace? Big difference. I’ve been signed off for 6 months after spinal surgery, but still made myself available to talk and discuss things at all times on the phone, as I could still talk/type, just unable to drive
