I usually buy expensive makes but fancy treating myself without the expensive tag.

AIBU to think there might be products which are cheaper on the market and reasonably good quality?

I'm going to miss Wilko. I've shopped there a lot over the years. The Essence stuff I bought there was great.

I agree with you @RampantIvy. L'Oréal lipstick I fund fine but No7 and some other cheaper ones make my lips sore, at the corners. So I tend to stick to estee, lancome, clinique and Clarins for lippy.

NYX is quite good, and I love Pixi. Have to admit though, since spending extra on fancier makeup brands and skincare my skin has gone from cystic acne central to really clear and I actually wear a lot less foundation and concealer now so although I buy more expensive brands and I'm not refilling as often so I think it works out pretty even for me.

Maybelline dream radiant foundation is worth it's weight in gold. smooth application and good coverage, feels like skincare. It was recommended on here and has been a repeat buy for me. Is better than Estee lauder futurist hydra rescue foundation, which I was using previously.

I think the gap between pricier and more budget make up is closing. There are some great products from Rimmel, Maybelline, Loreal and Revlon, especially foundation wise.
