AIBU to leave her home alone

My DD 12 (Yr8 in school) says she’d be happy for me to leave her home now and then of an evening to go out for dinner with my boyfriend. She came with us this evening but says she is too tired after a day at school. She’s pretty sensible and the dog would keep her company. I live rurally so would have to drive. My family live in the same village in case of emergency. She’s stays home in the daytime for an hour when I walk the dog without an issue but I’ve never left her after dark.

I think it’s ok but it feels like abandoning her… am I being an overprotective loon? Would I be unreasonable to leave her for a few hours one evening a month or so?

I would just make sure your phone is switched on and charged, and that your relatives are aware if they are needed and also that she has all the correct numbers

If you're worried, why not start out with meeting your boyfriend for a coffee or a quick drink, and seeing how it goes? That way you'd probably, at this time of year, still be back during the light, but you'd both get used to how it feels for you to be that bit further away than walking the dog?
