Line manager at work

Will try not to make this too long winded, currently on a work secondment since March, a job ive never done before and have no experience of, this was known when the secondment was awarded. I've given it my all, really thrown myself in, received nothing but praise abd good word, move along to August, which was tricky due to school hols etc, did a mix of office, working at home and on site. During this time my new line manager (also new to her role) began to get iverwhel.ed with her role and started to micromanage the team, to the point where we all started double guessing ourselves. I went back to the office properly on 5 September whereby I had 3 consecutive meetings with said line manager where I was dealt with aggressively, flippant comments were passed etc by the third meeting I gathered ny things to walk out stating I could no longer work like this, comments such as "don't cock this up as it's both our jobs on the line" and flippant comments such as "no idea" and "not got a clue" had been given in all 3 meetings. I went to HR stating what done do if my line manager is unapproachable and unhelpful? HR said it was clearly a lack of experience managing people. O took some time off 2 weeks and went back to a return to work meeting today, clearly nothing has changed, I asked for a mentor, nothing has materialised, line manager still has same dismissive attitude and defensiveness. The role is now up for Interview as its cHanging to jobshare, Ive applied, against my better judgement and have an interview however, my line manager is on the panel and I'm concorned it's not going to be a fair process and whether to cut my losses and withdraw and ask to go back to my substantive role which is at a lower grade but term time only. AIBU to cut my losses and be content with the lower grade and easy hours or stick it out?

By my own experience a higher salary certainly doesn't necessarily mean a happier life, and this sounds exactly the same. Plus, it sounds like your work/life balance was much better in your previous role. There aren't many things in life that are worse than waking up in the morning and dreading going to work. It sounds like a no-brainer to me, but ultimately only you can decide.

better to try and fail, rather than pull out and know for certain its a fail ?
