To ask an age gap question?

Ok can I please ask your insights in this :

If a person is the youngest of 5 siblings, and the second of the 5 siblings is 10 years older than the youngest - so 10 year gap between #2 and #5 - what would be your most likely estimate of the age gap between the very oldest - #1 - and the youngest -#5?

Thank you all in advance!!! I just want your most likely estimates !

Thankies

Well there’s 23 years between my youngest and oldest so anything between 11 and 25 years. Why?

wynnefr · 26/09/2023 19:30

Ok @EnchantedCastle - I'm curious to learn the age of my crush's oldest brother !!

(Well I did ask!!!)

Are they all full siblings as the answer will be different if not?

Probably the largest gap know of is 24 years.

VenusClapTrap · 26/09/2023 19:33

Could be anything. I once dated a guy whose eldest (full) sibling was 22 years older than him.

wynnefr · 26/09/2023 19:34

Yes full siblings @ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees

Ok so some more info -

Father was 39 when youngest was born.

Also - the eldest sibling had their first child when youngest 9 years old

It's probably 12 years, those with 5 kids always have the first two close together. The largest age gap I know is 28 years!

wynnefr · 26/09/2023 19:42

@KissKiss29 - thank you - interesting what you say about families with 5 kids. By your estimate in this particular case it would mean the eldest (brother) would've become a father aged 21

Why don’t you just ask your crush? You already know a lot about their family!

wynnefr · 26/09/2023 20:26

I know I don't want to appear too curious lol! If we ever become a thing birthdays / celebs will be v expensive GrinGrin - big family - lots of nephews /nieces !!

12, it seems most common to have a dc every 2 years.

Some 3dcs families have two then another once dc2 is in school.

wynnefr · 26/09/2023 20:39

I've noticed this as well @heartofglass23 - sometimes there's a huge age gap between dcs 2 and 3 in 3 child families.

In this particular family there's

4 and a half years between dc 2 and dc 3
1 year between dc3 and dc4
4 years between dc 4 and dc 5

My eldest of 4 is 32 years old and my youngest is 11.

wynnefr · 26/09/2023 20:43

That's quite a variation @Moonflower12 - I think it's nice / I think everyone benefits from having close family members of different ages.

wynnefr · 26/09/2023 20:47

By now there are also a plethora of nephews/nieces so loads of birthdays to remember if we become an item - I'll have my work cut outGrin

YABU! ffs.

Moonflower12 · 27/09/2023 07:00

@wynnefr
I know!
They are 32,27,and 26 followed by a 10 year old who was a 'surprise' Bloody great shock!!

WashingBasketFull · 27/09/2023 07:12

Very random thing to ask the internet about.

sometimes the first child isn’t planned (or just puts them off parenting for a while!) so there’s a bigger gap between DC1 and DC2, then they come thick and fast after DC2.

I’m going with 15 years.

Thank you - actually yes I'm more inclined to agree with you.
My main reason for this is the youngest of the 5 was 9 when he first became an uncle.
Also their father was only 3 months off his 40th birthday when the youngest was born

Sorry for previous bold fail!!

Yes I've found that previously was a phenomenon in large families. Woman I knew was one of 6. She said she got to age 6 before the next sibling came and in her words "they then came every year" - no double entendres intended!! Grin

This whole thread is nuts, and you are getting massively ahead of yourself, but this post stood out to me. If you are part of a couple and you are in a male/female relationship, you as the female part DO NOT become responsible for doing all the thinking and organisation in the relationship. His family = his responsibility to remember all the birthdays for his relatives. You would be his partner, not his mum.
