to think ‘grooming’ is the new ‘narcissist’

Yeah, sometimes it’s the right word to use. Yet is it just me or is its meaning being slowly eroded this year as it gets wheeled out at every opportunity to create convey a sense of victimhood (for which there must be a perpetrator)

Just to re-emphasise: There are definitely many situations where it’s entirely appropriate. I’m not talking about those.

I’m not hearing grooming in the wrong context.I agree about “narcissist” though….hearing that constantly. Anyone who had acted even slightly selfishly is a narcissist apparently.

And anyone you don’t get on with is toxic.

Many people are only coming to understand what grooming is, so are recognising it in more and more circumstances.
Similar to gaslighting. You never heard about it, now it’s everywhere, and better recognised.

There is certainly an ever growing trend of feeling “victimised” for attention seeking reasons…

Yes, I think it’s good that an important concept is getting wider exposure, so that bit‘s great. But definitely seeing a lot of trigger-happy use alongside that.
