To be fed up of weekly calls from companies claiming to reduce my phone bills!

I just don't get it really. As a family of 4 we all have a phone and 1 watch on a EE contract under my name. Yes it's expensive but 2 phones have unlimited data and we all share that usage. Dd has Apple music too.
On a weekly basis I'm getting sales calls from different companies all asking if I'm self employed (I am). Then they all say they can reduce the bills but won't put anything in writing. They want to do the deal over the phone. I'm nearly 50 and cannot make immediate decisions nor do I want to be pressured to. I ask for information to be emailed to me but they refuse. But then I wonder if I'm missing out on a deal! Aibu?

Why are you answering the phone to these people? Just don't pick up calls from unrecognised numbers - they're always spam.

Daisymay2 · 26/09/2023 13:43

Most of the calls wanting to reduce mobile charges are spam/fradulent. Check the nmber on Who calls me etc.

You are not missing out. They are scammers. They keep trying to call me too, which is really irritating. Without giving away too much detail (to avoid outing) DH is actually the head of the real life department they claim to be from. So these phone calls do provide me with some entertainment, along these lines:

Caller: “hello, I am calling on behalf of XXX company, I would like to help you cut your bills by offering you a great deal.”
Me: “I’m already on the best deal thanks.”
Caller: “we can get you a better deal.”
Me: “I can assure you I am on the best deal, I get it though my DH who is head of XXX company’s ZZZ department. I think he must be your boss, what did you say your name was again? I will let him know you called…..”
Caller: “bye…….” Click.

That's fab.
I tell them that there is no point is carrying on as the O2/EE/Vodaphone/3 or whoever signal round here is terrible so they are wasting their time. (I am correct for 3/4 of the main suppliers)

Thanks it's clarified my gut feelings they were talking crap! It's never a recognisable name either. Can't remember which ones.

They are after your bank account and that's it. It's highly unlikely they are employed by that company. Just block them.

Missedmytoe · 26/09/2023 22:12

We get these on our business line. If I'm feeling kind I tell them we have VOIP and it costs £1 a month. If I'm feeling unkind I tell them we don't have a telephone.

I have received some of these spam calls too

I just laugh & say, you can reduce my phone bill, lol, lol ?

Because I know exactly how much my phone bill is & no other company can match it !

End call
