I've had stomach pain on and off for the last two months. My stomach has become very swollen. I put off going to the doctor as I thought it might be something to do with my she (39) and menstraluation. peri menopause.

Anyway a woman came up to me last week and asked how many months pregnant I was. The pain was also worse this week. These two things pushed me into going to the the doctor .

The doctor sent me to a+e and they did an x-ray.
The first doctor there said that the x-ray looked okay, just that it looked I had a slow digestive system which he gave me medication for. They sent me home.

However two days later the hospital have rang me. They said a higher consultant looked at my x-ray, and he found something on my x-ray and they want me to go back in tomorrow.

I've just been crying and a bit worried today. And I wanted a bit of a handhold.

So while I'm happy they are taking it seriously and quickly. I'm also really scared as to what is wrong. My stomach is very swollen today

Ah OP, I’m so sorry to read your post - can’t imagine how stressed and scared you feel.

Come what may, well done for going to see the doctor and taking action. And I’m glad a senior consultant took a proper look; whatever the diagnosis may be. I’m hopeful for you that you’ll get answers you need and start any required treatment in good time to solve any issues!

I would add that a close relative was recently diagnosed with a terminal illness. Diagnosis opportunities had been missed for various reasons, but when it was finally picked up, they were called at home at 3am and an ambulance was sent to pick them up immediately. All that is to say, fingers crossed that if it was anything truly irreversible or life limiting, they may not have made you wait a day!

All the best x

Fingers crossed that it's something they can treat easily.

One thing I found over the years with hospitals, if something is very urgent they usually tell you to come in straight away.

It's quite common for someone higher to look at the Xrays that have been done previous days. We've been called back a few times.
