What are the chances of me getting paid my universal credit?

I have an alarm on my phone the day before my UC is due to submit childcare costs. Never a problem and never submit them late. The reason I do it this was is because my bank statement is only available just before my date to submit and as i pay chikdcare weekly at varying rates i need it to be as up to date as possible.

This month when my alarm went off I went to submit my childcare costs and there was no signal on my phone. I had no 4g connection for 24 hours. I don't have WiFi as I have unlimited data on my phone so run a hot spot. It was 9 pm and my son was in bed asleep. I went to a relatives house first thing the next morning to submit the costs and look at why I didn't have 4g. Three network website said they were working on masts in my area and apologies for the inconvenience. I have the screenshot.

Put a note on my journal apologising and explaining what had happened and that i could provide the screenshot from that morning. It was a matter of 9 hours and 15 mins late.

I paid the childcare costs on 2nd August for childcare from 1st - 31st August

Assessment period is 9th - 8th.

Submitted them on 9th September. Got a message saying it has gone to decision maker and may not receive anything.

Are they really likely to do me out of 5/600 over a being a few hours late?

I always just submitted the receipt. Never submitted my bank statements and they always paid it!

TwilightSkies · 23/09/2023 17:30

Oh god they are trying to migrate me over but this honestly sounds like a nightmare!

It’s not a nightmare at all. It’s very straight forward. OP has just made life difficult for herself by not taking screenshots, and also by leaving it to the last minute.
I find UC far easier than Tax Credits.

Uggtrending · 23/09/2023 17:32

I have never uploaded a bank statement I just upload proof of a receipt once I've paid.

whirlyhead · 23/09/2023 17:36

I know with my banking apps when I pay something I can download a transaction receipt either by email or to my phone. And I have 5 different banking apps all
of which let me do this so i am sure
yours would.

Looks like I'm going to need that mandatory reconsideration. They're refusing to pay it to me. Because I reported 9 hours late. Currently in tears trying to work out how I'm going to get through the next month.

You can submit childcare costs upto 3 months after you incur them, so if these are the costs for last month I don't understand how they are saying no.

Are they suggesting to pay it in your payment for the period you submitted in, so therefore paying late or are they refusing to pay at all?

mummy21blueeyed · 06/10/2023 19:25

Lesson learned in my opinion the way you were doing it and the length of time between paying and submitting evidence is long too paying in august but not submitting til September is odd and would leave me with anxiety.

73636sssss · 06/10/2023 19:45

I don’t understand how they’ve come to this decision either
every time you declare changes to childcare costs it creates a to do and you have a date at the bottom when the evidence is due by when you upload this evidence.

Lalala0 · 06/10/2023 19:58

I've had it before where they paid it separately after my usual uc. I admitted and explained I had alot going on in my life at the time and submitting childcare costs was not on my mind

SinglePSnowedUnder · 06/10/2023 20:46

UC pay my childcare when I send evidence I've paid and DC has attended, I just send a screenshot of the app that I pay on which has the amount paid for the day, the sessions attended and whether DC was present or absent from the session. They've always accepted it.

I've just submitted my holiday club childcare from summer with just the sessions I'd booked email and the amount paid on it, no need to show bank statements.

I'll get it in Octobers UC I've been told today, so you'll get yours.

They've already sent it to decision makers and told me I won't

Can you clarify the dates because it just doesn't make any sense?

So you used and paid for childcare in August, which you expected to be paid for in September?

However you missed the cut off for the September period?

When I submit mine, my period is 28th to 28th, if I provide my proof by the 28th I get paid in the payment on the 5th of the next month.

If I miss that deadline I still have untill the 26th of the following month to submit, however I then won't receive it until the 5th of the next month.

Which is what I would expect to happen to you. Unless you have left it more than whole month after paying your childcare to submit?
