Hi all, semi light hearted but here we go! Apologies in advance for the post length...

Absolute nightmare neighbour (please see previous threads) who I've managed to have minimal contact with the last few months - I know everyone will say why have you not grey-rocked! I tried! If you don't want to hunt through posts, in the last few months:

  • I had my drive jet washed and asked the company to swoosh over the pavement so the pavement in front of their house didn't have any run off dirt(argh she has me trained!). 2 hours later, she accosted me coming back to the house - she'd just come home too and how dare I make the pavement wet? (Because it never rains in the NW of course)
  • Took in a couple of parcels when I was out and refused to answer door to let me have them back (literally hid, I could see her through the window 🤣) - this happened several times. It was days before she threw them over the garden fence... when it was raining
  • Because we no longer talk (she no longer talks to me because she got caught trespassing in my garden trimming back bushes after I'd said it was all handled... I didn't say anything, but she has not spoken to me since) she has taken to accosting any trades that turn up to my house and demanding to know in minute detail what is going on, to the point my plumber asked me in all seriousness if I was ok and was I being stalked
  • Today the silence was broken (alas!) when she shouted at me for righting their wheely bin, which had fallen over and was spilling onto my drive

Hope that gives some context! So (and I feel like I'm jinxing it typing) they are moving! And should exchange and complete on Monday apparantly (according to other neighbour).

I have a small party planned on Sunday for something rather lovely and have 8 friends coming over for cocktails and dinner. Neighbour will know this is going on because she watches the front of the house obsessively, but also we're terraced so there'll be a bit of noise. I imagine everyone will be home by 10/11, so not planning a rager!

I mentioned about the move date to one of the guests (who can be overly sympathetic to people at times by his own admission!) and he thinks it will look like I'm holding a party to celebrate neighbour from hell going 🤣 He thinks I should rearrange! I think he's bonkers (and I'm half planning a special freedom cocktail, but still!) So... AIBU?

AIBU you could rearrange to the week after, why risk upsetting a very turbulent relationship as it is

YANBU who cares? She'd complain whatever happens, fetch the strobe lighting and vuvuzelas!

Nb: aside from some sort of cosmic punishment, I should never see nor here from neighbour again post move!

Have your party OP.

We will all collectively send good vibes for the exchange and completion to go ahead smoothly, and pray the new neighbours are better than the current ones.

I can't imagine them being worse!

Though I imagine they're fairly traumatised from trying to buy a house from her, the issues over the survey were actually insane!

Love how you've phrased it!

The vote is currently 1% (wtf???) Vs 99%
Enjoy your party

@Mabelface that's a good call on the song!

Well! Thank you for all the back up!

Successful party - except for a noise complaint about hearing music in the garden at 7pm when a friend had nipped out to vape 🤪 my friend answered the door and claimed I wasn't in, so at least I managed to avoid a final run in!

The removal van has arrived and is parked straight over my drive blocking me in (there'd be ample space if neighbour wasn't parked in front of the their house with a trailer) but it's a small price to pay!

Does mean prime snooping spot for the van from where I work today - they're loading all the radiators!!! Who on earth does that!

She's taking the radiators? Crikey.

Take a bottle of wine round to the new people and establish from the get go that you're perfectly lovely, despite anything she might have tried to stir up.

I hope you have a long and peaceful co-existence with your new neighbours.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 25/09/2023 09:46

Radiators? Bet the new people will be soooo pleased with her. Heard if people taking light bulbs by jeez.

Anything else bonkers she’s taking?! The stairs and all the bathroom suite?

Get the champagne in the fridge and part poppers ready by the door!

BMW6 · 25/09/2023 09:59

Surely removal men know fixtures like radiators are not meant to be taken?

MustGetOutofBed · 25/09/2023 10:04

Removing radiators 😲
God help those people moving in, will they even be left with floorboards?
Glad you had your party 🥳 🎉 🎶

Karatema · 25/09/2023 10:15

Keep us informed! We're all too invested in this! I see the new neighbours having to issue a lawsuit - radiators are part of the building as are built in cupboards 🙄

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 25/09/2023 10:18

If you know the estate agent they are selling through, maybe a little call to them would be in order to let them know the radiators are being loaded up!

sm40 · 25/09/2023 10:23

Looking forward to the MN post tomorrow!
Our sellers took the radiators, who does that???

heldinadream · 25/09/2023 10:28

I think you should be taking pix of strange things they're taking - radiators and whatever, new owners might be pleased with having the evidence. And immediately love you.
They gave you chocolates with BITE MARKS in? Jayus who has that much brass neck, where do these people come from?
Enjoy your new neighbour relationship OP!

justwatchingtelly · 25/09/2023 10:34

I cannot believe that they are taking the radiators!!!!

I Hope that your new neighbours a lovely. Take round a bottle of wine and a quiche/lasagna. That's always so appreciated on moving day!

I'm hoping they've replaced them... you'd replace them right!? They're the old school rounded ones you get in old buildings, like they're nice, but they're not take them with you nice!

Than this (which I desperately covet in the trashiest way possible):

They also have SO many plants being taken out of the garden, including 3 trees! Hope the newbies aren't expecting it to be as lush as before 😅

Haha from what I've heard, neighbour argued everything on the survey, claiming they were trained in it (as a short course as part of uni course ;/) and therefore knew better, that the surveyor was wrong.

Now, we all know home surveys can be a work of fiction, but neighbour was complaining that they had miscounted the number of air bricks and said there was a ventilation issue - a few days later I saw them removing the gravel they'd banked up and over the air bricks and adding new ones!

I've also been hearing power tools for weeks next door, so assume they were "fixing" the survey... not what I'd want on a house I was buying!

I can only assume sellers have a similarly dim view of neighbour, and hope they don't believe anything they've been told?!

FREEDOM COCKTAILS!! Save one for the new neighbour, they might need it too!

TeeBee · 25/09/2023 10:57

Definitely still have it and have everyone sing 'Ding Dong the Witch is Dead' very loudly.

Fallenangelofthenorth · 25/09/2023 11:00

Bloody hell, it's bad enough taking radiators but who the fuck digs up plants and trees??

Have a minute’s silence for her new neighbours at the party.

😂

Gooseysgirl · 25/09/2023 11:05

YANBU.

I will be popping the champagne cork on my front door step as my evil NDNs drive away if they ever move.

VivaDixie · 25/09/2023 11:07

Love the 'Fuck off' balloon arch idea - there is still time OP 😂

But seriously - ring the estate agent about the radiators 🤬 Cheeky fuckers

MrsSkylerWhite · 25/09/2023 11:09

Yes, he’s bonkers. Enjoy your party.
