Does skimping on food make you feel colder?

I have a very stressful, sad week this week and as such it's affecting my appetite the last few days. Still eating but far less than normal. Today I've had a yogurt and a wedge of cheese so I imagine about 350 calories, which for some people who don't like breakfast is probably their norm but for me not normal at all.

I'm really feeling the cold and wonder if it's eating less doing that? Or is it actually that I'm coming down with something and it's really that which is affecting the appetite?

Does eating less make you colder?

Sorry I should add I will eat dinner later so it's not like that's all I'm having, but for me I normally eat a good bit more through the course of the day.

of course it does, digestion produces energy and heat, I am always cold before meals

Iv never felt colder if I don’t eat.

I'm sorry you're having a difficult time and yes, if you're undereating it does make it a lot harder to stay warm. Generating warmth requires energy, and we get that energy from eating, so if you're not eating enough calories your body is using its energy reserves for other things instead of keeping you warm.

You've only had about 350 calories, which is very little to have eaten all day considering it's now well past 3pm, so it's understandable that you're cold.

Also, the food you had was also cold, which probably doesn't help either.

It's hard when stress/grief affects your appetite like that. Sometimes, if you really, really don't have the appetite to eat properly, then liquids can be a good choice - things like soup, hot chocolate, lattes, smoothies, milkshakes etc. My mum always loses her appetite completely when she's really worried or upset and these are usually the only things I've been able to get her to consume in those situations.

Yes, always.

Thank you, glad it's not that weird then!

I've had a couple of cups of tea and feel warmer. My (one) coffee this morning made me badly jittery and shaky so I didn't have another hot drink this morning then, everything is hitting me more at the minute. Tea seems to be ok though.

Yes it does. But also where I am it definitely feels suddenly much colder today, autumn is here.
