To not know if a banana bread and butter pudding would be good or gopping?

I need to take a few puddings to an event on Friday night.

I'm doing an apple pudding, a chocolate self-saucer (Ultimate pudding IMHO) and a bread and butter pudding..
Last night I was eyeing up the excess bananas on the fruit bowl and my mind started spiralling - banana and custard is a classic combination so should be good, yes? I'd put extra sugar in the top so it was caramelised bananas. And possibly add choc chips to the mix.

But there's something that makes me think that texturally this could be quite unpleasant?

Any thoughts or experiences are very welcome please..

YABU: move away from the fruit bowl, that's bonkers

YANBU: sounds delightful go for it

I'd leave out the chocolate chips. I love bread and butter pudding, the sultanas make it, it doesn't need chocolate. Not everyone likes chocolate. I agree with going spiced as well. So b&b pudding with bananas would be lovely. This is going to sicken some people but when I go to an all you can eat place, I mix my school puddings so often have bananas in custard with spotted dick/Eaton mess etc.

Banana bread, bread and butter pudding, two of my great hates so I doubt that combining them would be an improvement! All that's lacking is banoffee pie for the jackpot, never seen one that doesn't look like vomit on a plate. Why do people think it's OK to try and force it onto you as though it were something special?

I love it, and used to make it regularly, layering the bananas between the bread and butter slices. I'd also have sultanas soaked in rum in it, and use demerara or muscovado sugar. I've also tried adding choc chips instead of sultanas, but that is overegging the pudding for me.

Mixed bag of answers there!

Unfortunately I've been called into work on Friday so Costco puddings it is.

But I'm planning on experimenting so I'll try it in the future and might even report back!

I've done marmalade bread and butter pudding before and it is my absolute favourite, would have done that but those bananas were come hithering me and I loathe to throw food.

Gopping is a most excellent word, yes! I'm Midlands based.

on The off chance you didn’t know, the bananas will be ok frozen. Just peel them first.
