Will you deal with fake people

I have had this problem for a while and I just hate fake people and I end up looking like the bad when they did something very bad in a discreet manner and fake friendly manner. I just want to know how do you deal with them? For me once I realise you are fake I want nothing to do with you even when you greet me I don’t want to response this attitude then give the fake person power and evidence that I’m the bad one. It’s like there’s a lot of fake people around.

I have only met a couple of people who I felt were very fake. I just keep my distance and just keep conversation superficial.

I guess it depends what you mean by fake? You can’t always suss someone out from just meeting them, and sometimes people are nervous/socially awkward and might come off a certain way. But generally a good rule is just to be polite but not get too close to anyone you think is inauthentic or can’t be trusted.

How do you define fake?

Quitelikeit · 18/09/2023 10:55

This with bells on

WandaWonder · 18/09/2023 10:56

Same way I deal with any non friend/family people polite and just get on with it

Yes - a definition might help. I've encountered some people who think someone is fake for being courteous!!! One person decided that a woman who'd stood back and said 'After you!' was being sarcastic because they weren't used to it in their daily life.

But I just give them a very wide berth and I'm really lucky that neither my work nor my social life has brought me into contact with many. I'm sure some professions are chock full of them! I wouldn't choose to work in these jobs (i'm guessing (with some prejudice - sorry!) that media, PR, advertising and event management have more than their fair share.

@Honeybu I think you need to be a bit more explicit about what you mean (i.e examples). It's hard to respond without knowing what you mean.

I understand fake to mean two-faced and I just avoid people like that as much as I can.
