Do you get Fomo if you have a lazy weekend

Barely done anything this weekend. It rained yesterday so we took the dog in the woods when it stopped, I baked with Dd, 5, then made lasagna and watched a film/movie night
Today, much the same, long dog walk in tbe woods, all just watching tv and then I’ll make chicken dinner. DD’s neighbour friend may come to play a bit later on the trampoline.
Its a very nothing weekend, but I sometimes struggle with not going out/having lots of plans..anyone else?
Can you just relax into it?

I rarely get downtime at the weekend as DH and DD love going out and doing things! Making the most of the rain today by having a lazy day and it's amazing! Don't get me wrong, usually I like doing stuff too, but I feel like we don't actually stop all week most of the time!

Yes, I get antsy and feel we should be out doing something but have been trying to fight this feeling lately. One of my children in particular needs a lot of quiet downtime at weekends in order to make it through a demanding week at school.

I know exactly what you mean. I worry I’m not making memories or having much fun.

My best memories are of Sunday afternoons when whole family just chilled. No pressure to go and be on time somewhere and dress up and whatever. Just mum with book, dad with tv, sibling and I either watching or reading or playing with cats.

It's the peace i remember the most after busy week

Missing out on what?

i never feel i miss out.

what is there to miss out on that could be detrimental to your life?

jlpth · 17/09/2023 14:04

Yes, I'm another who can't understand what you/she would be missing out on.

What would that be?

VeronicasCloset · 17/09/2023 14:05

Sounds lovely. My happiest memories of childhood are cosy afternoons indoors with my parents and siblings. Enjoy it. Your company is what they want

AndIKnewYouMeantIt · 17/09/2023 14:10

The way I see it, most of us are paying loads of money in rent or mortgage for our homes so what is the point if all you do is sleep in them?

Obsessedwiththose4turtles · 17/09/2023 14:11

@AndIKnewYouMeantIt 😂Yes, fair point

No.
We are generally a fairly out and about family. Busy with work, house, and try and go and do things often. So if we end up having a weekend at home it’s fine.

I have been mainly at home this weekend. Been out briefly to park and supermarket for essentials, cat to vet. Been gardening today, Ds helping or watching tv as he wants.

I don’t think I have ever had FOMO.

As PP have said, JOMO is more like it. My job is very social and requires me to bound around full of energy, charm and humour.

By the weekend I only want to talk to the cat, from a prone position on the sofa, watching reruns of Lewis.

You are me
I spend all week talking to customers and by the weekend I'm "I don't want to speak until Monday thanks"
Cooking and exercise ALONE recharges me

bengalcat · 17/09/2023 15:12

Sounds lovely - we’re having a lazy Sunday on the sofa reading the papers , books and cuddling up with the animals ( one adult DD )

No but I do get JOMO!

😅 me too!

cakecoffeecakecoffee · 17/09/2023 15:58

Nope, I love it.

I'm trying to tech DC 4&8 the joy of chilling out. Currently they start with “I’m bored!” If left to their own devices for more than 5 minutes so I’m helping them learn how to deal with it.

Sgtmajormummy · 17/09/2023 16:12

It’ll all be waiting for you when you get back on Monday, so you’re probably better off not updating your social media every hour.
That’s what I feel about 24 hour news channels. Just turn it off!
