Dh cooked a chicken recipe where you marinate in stock and then boil th3 whole bird.
Stock has been in a tupperware for a week in fridge, now time to throw it away.
Dh thinks it will be good for the garden and intends to throw it out there. I say put down sink.
YABU - stock is good for the garden
YANBU - it's not

I've never heard of it being good for the garden. But I also wouldn't put it down the sink befits probably a bit fatty. I'd put it down the toilet.

Dh once kept 2 extra carrots he'd peeled for Christmas Dinner in a box in the fridge for 3 weeks before throwing them away

Pee poop paper and puke are the only things that go in the loo.

Can you not freeze it? I wouldn't chuck it down the sink or over the garden

Wanderingllama · 16/09/2023 12:44

Also down the toilet. It may have too much salt or it will attract not welcomed visitora

Genuine question, not being sarky: how would freezing it help?

I can't see the vote unless I vote?

Sink water and toilet water end up in the same place. If something's going to contribute to a fatberg when you put it down the sink, it will contribute to a fatberg if you put it down the toilet.

If it's had a chicken in it and been in the fridge for a week, I wouldn't be freezing it. Chucking it on the garden/compost heap is probably be the best bet, whether it's positively good for it or not.

It would have been better if one of you had found a use, but better to to aim to re-use and fail, than not even try

Probably. That's how it works for the rest of us who aren't the OP.

You can change your vote as many times as you like.

Skim anything dodgy-looking off the top. Reheat and boil up for a good 10 minutes. Cool quickly and freeze. Use to make a delclous soup at a later date.

Summerisawashout · 16/09/2023 12:56

Can't do any harm putting it in the garden? Probably better than clogging up your sink pipes. Might be some nutrients in there your plants and insects will appreciate

If it's frozen and then put into the bin just before they're collected, it's slightly less awful for the binmen to pick up in a bag and won't attract ten billion flies.

ConnieTucker · 16/09/2023 12:59

I wouldnt out it down the sink or in the garden. Bin it.

What's your thought process for putting it down the toilet rather than the sink, how is it better?

fairyfluf · 16/09/2023 13:15

Why would you put meat on your garden?

I know! There's no meat in it.
Just his idea that it's good for the garden. He was interested in the point about salt.
