Dropped kerbs - how do you park?

Just reading the other thread about the dropped kerb and driveway being blocked, I wonder if I could ask how you all interpret a dropped kerb?

What part of your car do you take into account? Just the wheels? Or where your car ends?

And is the angled part of a dropped kerb out of bounds (part B in the attached photo), or is it just the flat part that you mustn't block (part C)?

Over the last couple of months, people keep parking partially over our drive - and they all seem to have massive bloody cars! Their wheels are sometimes only on the angled bit of pavement (part B), or sometimes even just on the proper pavement (part A)- but the back of the car stretches across the front of the drive (part C) and due to the road being narrow, it blocks us in.

But I don't know if I'm misinterpreting the rules. Is it only the wheels of the parked car which matter, or the full length of the car?? I'd always make sure that the back of my car wasn't overhanging the drive (part C) - and I wouldn't put my wheels on the angled bit of the pavement (part B) either but I'm not sure if that's the actual rules or not?

By the way, this isn't our drive, it's a random Google photo. I actually think the dropped kerb for our drive needed to be one width larger on either side. I think when it was put in, it was done too narrow as the angled bit (part B) is in front of our drive - and that's not helping matters!

I consider the whole length of my car. Not sure about that angled bit.

The rear or front of their car should be clear of B and C so you have enough space to manoeuvre out of your drive way or pull into it.

All you can do is leave a polite note asking them to not park over the dropped curb as it is making it difficult to access/leave your drive.

A friend of mine got so fed up with a repeat offender parking over the the dropped curb bit (due to a wall like in the photo it made it really hard to get off the drive) and her polite notes clearly being ignored, she took to STICKING the note to the windscreen to obscure the driver's view. Eventually they stopped parking there.

(This was not super glue, but did require effort to remove it off the screen!)

I’ve always understood it to mean that no part of your car should encroach on part b, that part being part of the dropped curb because it ‘drops down’ even though it’s angled. So not a wheel or bumber/tow bar to over hang. Same for single/double yellow lines etc.

I make sure the end of my van (ie the end of the towbar) is no further along that the line between A and B. I’d find another space if I can’t achieve that. I’m not blocking people in or making it difficult to get on or off driveways.

I park on the drop kerb of a house behind ours every day. The answer is A. To leave not only room to get out but to manoeuvre round without having to cross to the other side of the road.

The legislation is that you cannot park on a kerb that is lowered. The beginning of the slip is lowered, so that cannot be parked on.

There's your answer. Alas most people don't seem to be aware of it and park however they like.

Would the neighbour parking like this annoy you? Its over a dropped kerb and makes it difficult for me to see on the corner. I have asked them to move up but they park like that so they can get the car on the drive out so dont move forward. Would you leave it or is there anything i can put there to force them to move up?
