Fish fingers, waffles, and bog roll

£3.65 in Iceland for a box of SIX fish fingers!!!!

£2.50 for a box of TEN potato waffles!!!

£4.50 for one of those packs of 9 bog rolls, with the handle that looks like a briefcase!!!!

I feel like I’ve treated myself to the luxury of being able to wipe my arse before I meekly devide up the fish finger and waffles feast between me and the kids like Mrs Cratchett.

Fishfingers and waffles are Tuesday night jobber tea not a Friday night treat.

Am I being unreasonable to ask Iceland for the breakdown of how they arrived at these crazy prices because I think they are just making them up randomly now because they comically expensive.

I got 26 birdseye battered fishfingers for £4 off Ocado this week

Daisylookslost · 15/09/2023 17:35

@Lahdedahiam haha snap supermarket but I think I got a better deal 🤔

I love Birds Eye Fish fingers and won't buy any other brand. But I always buy them at our local Heron Foods - a discount food shop. Or I only buy them on offer. Sainsburys usually do 30 fish fingers (6 meals for a one and a three years old) for £4.50 Nectar Price.

@AffIt no, don’t apologise I was agreeing with you, I agree completely, it’s a bit crap McDonald’s works out as cheaper. It should be a treat not something to buy regularly because it’s the cheapest option. Yes beans to beans it’s just risky where to put them. Need some kind of waffle barrier so they don’t touch the fishfingers

Two big conference pears in Tesco today, £1.73 at self scan checkout... I then discovered that one had a rotten hole in it, caused a kerfuffle getting them taken off my bill... ridiculous price!

In what world is fish fingers and waffles a treat meal? Confused

In a,typical mums net world where everything is cooked from scratch in batches ....

Lorelielee · 15/09/2023 17:54

@Lahdedahiam Thank you, that’s what I would expect them to be. About £2.50.

I also completely agree re: the beans barrier.

Youngs cod fish fingers bag of 60 for £6 in Iceland/Food Warehouse. I bought some a couple of days ago because I really fancied a fish finger sandwich and I couldn't get over the prices of buying in smaller quantities. Thought I may as well get a big bag then I can have many sandwiches. 😂

shakeitoffsis · 15/09/2023 18:15

Heron foods do a big bag of fish fingers which are less than perfect it's like £2.50 for 30 and the hash brown waffles £2.50 for 30 too absolutely bloody bargain.

Narwhalsh · 15/09/2023 18:15

I literally just bought 30 fish fingers in sainsburys for £3.70 so YABU for buying birdseye!

Devilsmommy · 15/09/2023 18:18

6 Birdseye chunky fish fingers. Not even cod!! and they aren’t even that chunky: £3.50.

Actually their pricing system for fish fingers is all over the place. Very erratic pricing.

i feel like I want to do some kind of research into it. Like track prices over the last 20 years to find some kind of trend. Maybe comparing to the prices of potatoes and fish.

I've noticed this lately. I get Morrisons cod fish fingers 10 pack £2. They're nice too

Gowlett · 15/09/2023 18:26

I was Birds Eye all the way, now I’m own brand Fish Fingers.
Same with Baked Beans. Some own brand are quite decent.

Bog Roll. Used to get Nicky, but that’s not as good as it was… I’ll get Andrex in a large offer pack. My bum is worth it.

AndIKnewYouMeantIt · 15/09/2023 18:31

You have to be flexible. If you want fish fingers then there's about 16 different boxes in Iceland and 2 will be on offer. The posh ones (Youngs?) in a black box are the best but I'd buy 12 normal Birdseye ones and double up in a sarnie before paying nearly 4 quid for 6.

Waitrose are cheaper for fish fingers!
Heron if you have one near do potato waffles 12 for £1.50
