Just want to say I always think @BertieBotts is one of those mumsnetters that makes this site special! Really interesting to hear about the origins of the Swedish Plus test actually.

OP I just was going to say we have the BeSafe Stretch and it's fab, I'd really recommend it from a consumer point of view. I seem to produce massive long/tall babies too, but they're still very happy in their RF car seats Smile

If this is your first car seat I’d suggest going to a local retailer who will have a look at your car and tell you what would fit the best.

We went to a shop called Direct 4 Baby and they really knew their stuff and had a look at the car and installed it for us when it got close to my due date.

We ended up getting a Cybex Cloud (something or other) been really good.

Aww :) Thanks everyone.

Bertie is definitely an unsung hero of this site. Her knowledge and time spent helping people with car seat stuff is incredible and everything she says is totally accurate and well researched.

My 14mo has gone into my DD1's old seat, a Britax Maxway Plus 25kg seat which should last her until 6ish on her current centiles. Unfortunately DD1 is high centile in both height and weight and has just about reached the 25kg limit for the seats we have. I'd have bought a 36kg one if doing it again, knowing what I know now, but she's almost 5 now so we've moved her into a Britax Kidfix HBB. But pleased we managed RF till almost 5!

Placemarking @BertieBotts so I can quickly re-read your excellent words and info whenever I have to justify my choice to rear face my children (often) to my in-laws and husband who declare it a waste of money.

Axkid mini-kid 2 is excellent, OP. I'll be rear facing them for as long as possible.

@BertieBotts thanks. What actually is the best car seat for safety then? Do
you happen to know? Not bothered about money on this as want it to be safe. Thank you!!

Rear facing for as long as possible . Tested to Swedish safety standards.
My dds are mid and late teens now, but when they had seats we bought them from Sweden. Britax models but not sold here. They lasted as long as the girls were under the height and weight limit.
In Sweden it is normal to be rear facing until four at least, and for us the seats lasted longer , Swedes are tall !
