How to find fully remote jobs

Mummymn · 15/09/2023 11:17

I am looking to change careers due to relocation plans (within the uk). Due to the move I feel remote working would be the obvious answer. I could start it straight away and then once we sell the house and buy a new one we can move without a big career break. However it means I couldn't do any days in the office yet as the commute would be extreme (monthly meetings or whatever would be doable)

The problem is how do I find these amazing remote jobs? I don't have any particular qualifications But have had experience in offices and have run my own business for many years (cannot move the business with us) so surely there is something out there for me. I don't care what although would ideally like to be helping people or admin type work rather than cold calling all day long.

Any tips or advice would be appreciated. I am getting fed up of indeed and similar sites. Its been so many years since I've done this it's all changed!!

I work fully remotely in sales. I don't do cold calling and I sell business to business based upon enquiries that the customer has made.

I originally got my job from applying on indeed. I'd recommend doing a search on there for telesales and telemarketing jobs with 'remote' as the location.

Not all sales jobs will be cold calling, but you will need to read through the description of the job on indeed to decide which ones are not cold call based. Feel free to PM me if you want anymore help/advice on searching.

Good luck!

Have a look at Medigold (occupational health admin). They do fully remote roles in both admin and clinical.

Hopinghonestly · 15/09/2023 12:31

Indeed, on location put remote.

Although depends how much you want to earn. Usually around 22-27000 on ones ive seen.

Always loads of remote options if you do admin or sales :)

In my experience lots of well paid remote work goes to in demand, highly skilled professionals. Essentially there are fewer of these people than there employers wanting them, so they are in a position of power to demand the working pattern they want.

Your best bet is to upskill. IT is a prominent area where there are lots of remote opportunities - could you look for courses in these areas

Remote options in sales can often mean you don't have a fixed office but are expected to travel widely.

Civil service / arms length bodies offer remote roles. My team meet up every 3 months or so at the most central point we can find, but if you can't make it that's OK.

I've noticed that tech companies tend to support fully remote working for lots of staff. Maybe try looking for an admin role with one of them?

FLOWER1982 · 15/09/2023 13:02

Work from home hub on Facebook and instagram is worth following.

A lot of local authorities have hybrid and wfh roles as well.

I’ve been teaching English online. Is that something you could look into?

AffIt · 15/09/2023 13:05

I work in fintech consultancy and I'd say about 80% of our people (including admin / business support) are either fully remote, in that they never go into the office, or ~75% remote, like me (I spend a week or so every quarter in our London office).

Mummymn · 16/09/2023 12:25

How would I go into this? It's something I would be interested in.

Whoops pressed the wrong button. This was in response to the teaching English post?

Clearly my IT skills are strong 😆

Have a look on Charityjobs.com and set location to remote or hybrid. There will probably be something interesting on there.

@Singleandproud Where’s the best place to look for these types of roles? Thanks

Edited

TEFL.com has lots of online opportunities for teaching English online.
There are also various FB groups "online English teachers" etc.
There are platforms like preply, Cambly which allow you to find students but take a cut.

Be aware that reputable (=decent paying) English teaching roles will ask for a CELTA or equivalent qualification at least. But you will find work without, lower paid, and with very young children usually and you won't be preparing your own teaching materials but reading from in -house stuff.

All the people I know locally who are fully remote, some barely have to put any hours in as so in demand work in Tech. I work in privacy, infosec area and jobs are remote as you don't really need to be present in an office very much unless monthly meetings but the supply of those people is not abundant as many people find it boring.

Goldenbear · 16/09/2023 12:52

However, I should add some of them have 15 years experience, I have 6 in this area so you have to see it as a long term prospect so probably not very helpful.
