Basically, postgraduate loan due. Completed enrolment a couple of days ago and money should be in my account within 2 working days according to SFE website payment schedule. It’s still showing ‘awaiting confirmation’ in online account. Have obviously emailed uni to ask if they’ve submitted the confirmation with no response yet, but it very much looks like it won’t hit my account on time. Single parent with £20 in the bank having paid out all the childcare etc and waiting for first payslip from part time job so was absolutely dependent on this money arriving in time. Does it always take 3 days from ‘payment processed’ status update? Because if this is the case I’m going to have to find a way of sorting some money out and it won’t be easy.

DS had this problem (Cambridge) and his college just waited for the money to come through. They didn’t seem that bothered to be honest…

From the enrolment date to payment mine always takes around 4 weeks sorry to tell you ☹️

Whatfreshhells · 14/09/2023 16:34

@Skybluecoat thanks. I’m sure they can wait for their fees. I’m more concerned about the £2k that was my living costs. I’ve paid upfront for childcare and I’m not due any salary for two weeks so I’m incredibly skint now. Not sure how I’ll survive if it’s another few days for payment.

The last three years (undergrad) it was always paid bang on the date shown in the account. I’m a bit screwed if it’s not going to be the case with the MA. Why publish a date and then not adhere to it? The loan was approved in July. I’ll have to sell/ pawn stuff now to survive because I’ve budgeted to this date.

Because it’s down to your university to confirm your attendance in order for the payment to go through, they usually email you let you know that it’s 4 weeks from enrolment date.
I’ve never had mine on the date provided as I’ve always had to wait for the uni to confirm my attendance.

Ah I see. As a full time student I always received my payment on the date specified in the award letter as our enrolment always was about 4 days before official start date and the confirmation always appeared then and the money always arrived on time. I’m also full-time this year for the masters at the same uni so was expecting the same process which is why I’m puzzled. Hopefully the uni will respond as I’m supposed to be attending a meeting there Monday. I obviously can’t afford to travel etc unless I can get some more money in the bank. Bloody nightmare.

@Whatfreshhells i wish you the best of luck and I hope it’s resolved

Your uni should have a hardship fund you can ask for help from

They do, but it’s only for undergrads and it takes 4 weeks . I needed help from them during my BA and gave up because by the time they’d have processed it my other money would have arrived. It’s really not for emergencies. I’m so annoyed. The uni has form for being hopeless with admin and disorganised but I stuck with them , turning down a much more prestigious place because they offered me A huge fee discount and I have a disabled child and a home to run so obviously I’m always tight for money and it was a big chunk. My fault I suppose for relying on it.
