Currently there are brands sold in supermarkets and reputable vape shops such as Lost Mary and Elf Bar which, while no doubt crap for your health, are at least relatively safe and official vape shops and supermarkets operate a challenge 25. Currently the main places kids are being supplied with these are dubious shops or other children who act as vape dealers. These dubious shops already flout the exiting law by failing to ID those clearly under 18 as well as often selling vapes that are already illegal/unregulated. Surely a ban on disposable vapes wouldn’t actually effect these shops as they’ll continue to flout the rules and sell under the counter to children (with their markets further increased by a new flurry of adult vapers who want their fix). I’m aware reusable vapes will still be available however nothing is quite the same as a bit of a favourite disposable brand. Also, I doubt supply would be an issue for these shops as many of them already sell counterfeits of major brands anyway. The answer to that would be stringent enforcement of the ban but then why can’t editing laws on age restrictions and ID be enforced against these shops, the fact the authorities can’t or won’t enforce the existing rules doesn’t give me hope that they’ll be able to enforce the new ban effectively. Aibu to think that the new vape ban is misguided and won’t stop underage vaping.
