To wish people happy birthday on social media, rather than by phone or card, and to do it on your OWN page, with a photo of yourself with the subject?

Lol. Might be me!

When someone posts a photo of 'my bestie' with them looking gorgeous and their poor pal looking like Jabba from below, you know what you're dealing with.

Another one...holiday photos where most of them are selfies.
Crete 2023 - all you get to see of Crete is the background behind their repetitive headshots. That's a bit mad isn't it?

This was too sweet. You sound like a lovely person.

Not really. I just love my partner and am very aware that even though some of my family members drive me up the wall I am extremely lucky to have them support and love me the way they do. My partner and his family situation have played a major part in me realising that and I sometimes feel extremely guilty when I see things I've gotten from my family (and am still getting ie financial help when car broke down and needed a new one) and how he has been pretty much on his own for years. The good news is my parents have pretty much "adopted" him, to the point I think that if we ever broke up my dad would truly struggle to choose sides, haha!

I get lazy but I think going 'it's attention seeking' says more about the person thinking this than the 'lazy' person

When others think grown ups do things for attention means they have issues

Wakintoblueskies · 13/09/2023 22:07

What I find particularly strange is when a parent wishes their (usually) very young child a happy birthday on FB. Sometimes they tag the other parent as if to remind them to do the same.
The child is too young to be on FB or see the post and too young to be able to read the post.
Just why do people do this?

I take it you don't like seeing birthday cards for 1 year olds then?

Moot point.

Is the one year old on FB? No
Can the one year old touch and feel the birthday greeting? No.
Is a FB post made from a tactile material? No.

SamW98 · 13/09/2023 22:24

Doesn’t bother me at all. It’s the default when you go into the birthdays tab on FB and it gives you a ready created birthday post of photos with the birthday boy/girl.

I don’t think deeply about it at all - it’s a post on SM nothing deep.

I am an old grouch!

Well it is isn’t it? These are also the people that check themselves in at A&E so people ask what’s wrong and they say “inbox me hun”
Attention seeking

KajsaKavat · 13/09/2023 23:06

I do that all the time. Imo it means more when I do it from my own wall because then everyone can see it do pared to if I do it on the other persons wall.

KajsaKavat · 13/09/2023 23:07

All the time to special people I mean like my oldest best friend and my family and other close people, everyone else gets the standard greeting.

Attention, pure and simple

Isn't that what 90% of social media is about anyway?
