Fit to fly forms - pregnancy

We're going on holiday in 2 weeks time and will be 29 weeks pregnant, therefore took a fit to fly form to the GP (airline says you need it from 28 weeks).

Firstly they told me I needed to pay for it, £25. Annoying, but fine - I did know I'd have to pay for it. Then got a call to say I could collect it and they said it was £50 - errr no, nice try, you said it was £25. So they said errr OK £25 is fine.

Then, I went to collect it and the receptionist gave me it, but said "we do NOT normally do these forms, but seeing as the doctor has already signed it you can have it". I asked what she meant and she said we normally refuse, we can say you are fit to fly now, but how can we know you are on the day you travel? You can take us to court and sue us if you aren't.

So, as much as I understand the point, what the chuff are we meant to do if pregnant and flying? I do have a form for holiday at least, but I'm also flying to Belfast for a weekend at 32 weeks pregnant. Do I just risk it and try and hide my bump?!

To be fair I flew at about 30 weeks in my first pregnancy and didn't even know fit to fly forms we're a thing, and I wasn't asked... but its just a bit of a risk!

How many airlines/airports actually ask for these forms?!

My midwife signed and stamped mine, but it wasn’t even looked at by the airline and I was very visibly pregnant at about 26 weeks

I was 28 weeks pregnant and never got asked for one and I was visibly pregnant. That was with tui around 4 years ago.

I just lied and said I was 26w. Only one airline asked how pregnant I was (Air China) and nowhere asked for a fit to fly note. The other three didn't care.

I flew to Belfast (from London) at 40 weeks with my first and 39 with my second, and no one stopped me or asked anything at all. I think the main concern for me would (if outside the UK) is making sure your insurance was not invalidated for some reason, and if you had not ticked all the boxes correctly, that could be a problem.
