WIBU to go to the gp about a few seemingly unrelated issues all occurring at the same time? None are causing me too much bother (uti, another possible infection, unexplained bruising and flair up of bowel problem).

I feel I may be over reacting and will be wasting NHS resources, but I feel so run down and every day I wake up and there's something else. I don't want to be that person that goes to the dr every time they sneeze, but I am getting worried that it could be something big causing all the little things

Unexplained bruising, feeling run down, bowel problems - all seem like something to see the doctor for.

Do you have an e-consult form for your doctor? The doctor can then decide if it is something they need to see you for or not.

Hi @bardos
You're not being unreasonable and not wasting NHS resources.
Hope everything turns out ok xx

You can but not all in the same appt. Remember appointments are 10 mins and your symptoms cross different systems.

I'm not sure what that is. I'll ring in the morning and see if they can triage if I need an appointment or not. Thanks

This is what I'm worried about. I don't want to take up 4/5 slots as individually they are all manageable at home, my concern is that all together they are making me feel rubbish and it's worrying me that I keep getting lots of little illnesses. Hopefully if I can speak to someone on the phone they will be able to tell me if they need to see me for all/any. Thanks

You will only know if it's nothing when you are reassured by a doctor. That's what they're for! I always feel the same, feel guilty about making an appt even though I've paid into the system for almost 40 years and thank goodness i did, didn't know I had a serious illness until I got checked out. Please do it. Xx

They could all be related, if you see the gp about each individually it will be easy to dismiss them as nor significant, they need to be discussed together.

And please don't ask a receptionist if you need to see a gp about this! ask to see one. You job is to ensure you're health is looked after, not to manage NHS resources!

If as a PP mentioned above you may only get a chance with one thing, I would firstly mention the unexplained bruising. If able to in the same consultation then the bowel issue and then feeling run down. The GP hopefully will then arrange blood tests in the first instance.

Ring up tomorrow and ask for an emergency appointment.

Write down all your symptoms on a piece of paper. In the appointment say you are rundown and have a few issues and hand the paper over. Hes the doc let him prioritise for you and tell you what to deal with at a future appointment.

Riverlee · 12/09/2023 20:47

Yes!

That's a great idea. Thank you.

And thanks everyone for validating my concerns. I'd always prefer to let things run there course at home without seeing a gp, but it's starting to affect my life now and not sure I can keep brushing it under the carpet
