I'd eat it.

QuestionableMouse · 12/09/2023 00:39

I wouldn't.

Not unless you enjoy D&V.

Most bacteria that cause food spoilage have no smell!

JaiynDough · 12/09/2023 00:41

What do you think people did for the millenia before bb or use by dates?

Just cook it properly.

Defender90 · 12/09/2023 00:42

I wouldn't by DH would. Just no.

Died of food poisoning quite often.

HappiDaze · 12/09/2023 00:43

If it smells ok then yes

Cushion1cover · 12/09/2023 00:44

Just cook it properly.

Also if it has spoiled, all the cooking in the world won't make it safe to eat because the bacteria produce toxins that cooking can't remove.

Gothambutnotahamster · 12/09/2023 00:47

I'd eat it.

This isn't true at all. Just because it smells okay does not mean it is safe to eat.

If you buy meat from a butcher's it doesn't have a best before date. You just trust your instincts re smell/appearance.

avemariiiaa · 12/09/2023 02:21

I wouldn't. Food poisoning is absolutely horrific especially when it's chicken.

The heat from cooking kills germs/bacteria, it can't fix food that is off.

I'd chance it within the following 24 hours if it smelled fine but not this long.

Tambatamba · 12/09/2023 02:24

Not chicken no

newusernamevictoria · 12/09/2023 03:28

It's only 2 days! It's totally fine if it's smells ok

JMSA · 12/09/2023 04:01

I've never known fresh chicken not to stink to high heaven after its use-by.
I've eaten mince(d beef) a day or two after its date, if it smells and looks ok. But chicken seems more risky somehow.

mathanxiety · 12/09/2023 04:22

Has it been sitting on a kitchen counter since you bought it?

Or in the fridge or freezer?

If refrigerated or frozen after purchase you're fine.

Gastropod · 12/09/2023 05:30

It will smell if it's off. It's that simple. If you cook it to piping hot all the way through I can't see how you'd get sick.
