Every two weeks. Nobody has complained or died. Good enough for me.

3 months! Nation of mingers

Sounds like students featured heavily in the survey 🤷‍♀️

Enko · 11/09/2023 19:25

I'm a Saturday morning towel washer too. Perhaps we should start a club 😀

Strip bed and clean bathroom Saturday morning. Before dh messed his knee up we would then go for breakfast.

MissAmbrosia · 11/09/2023 19:35

When we were moving dd from one Uni accommodation to another the other week, she mentioned not washing towels for months! 😱 I was more shocked as when at home she uses a towel once and throws it in the laundry basket! She has a washing machine in her shared flat this year so I live in hope 😀

BlackForestCake · 11/09/2023 19:59

Weekly or when they start to pong. Why would you keep using a smelly towel when you could easily change it for a fresh clean one?

smartiesneberhadtheanswer · 11/09/2023 21:12

The disregard for climate change on this thread is remarkable

greengreengrass25 · 11/09/2023 21:16

Once a week here as well

Apart from those doing 60 degree washes, what does this have to do with climate😂😂😂

Washing once a year has fuck all to do with climate change. I'm conscious of climate. I still wash towels with my other dirty laundry 🙃

People are just minging.

tulippa · 11/09/2023 21:22

Three months!😱You'd smell worse after your shower than before it. Towels are so easy to wash.

crumblingschools · 11/09/2023 21:29

@HuneyBuns assume referring to those who wash towels daily

Oh, got you

I think it's fair enough if you've got a load on. Having said that, I once lived with someone who put a single oven glove in the tumble drier, so...

1daughterand3sons · 11/09/2023 21:50

Everyone has 2 towels each and they get washed Saturday mornings.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 11/09/2023 21:52

Weekly and more for hand towels and Dave towels.

Hushabyelullaby · 11/09/2023 22:21

Saturday morning towel washer here too!

namestevalian · 11/09/2023 22:34

Oh god I wash towels at 60 or 90 once a week ... am I a planet killer ?!

My health comes first however

HollyRocks · 11/09/2023 22:53

@marmaladeandpeanutbutter

Dave towels??

2023forme · 11/09/2023 23:01

I wash mine when they start to smell like biscuits - after approximately 3 uses.

PickAChew · 11/09/2023 23:01

After siting around damp for a few days, a 60 degree wash (they need very little detergent though) is about all that keeps bath towels fit for use and not landfill. (and M not exaggerating. It's been so damp/humid here, this past few days, that stuff is taking forever to dry, indoors. Yesterday's face cloth stinks.)

WandaWonder · 11/09/2023 23:02

Once a week

Clefable · 11/09/2023 23:06

No idea. I'd guess we use them three times maybe and then wash, so every three/four days? We have loads of towels though so we are probably a bit profligate with them.

Clefable · 11/09/2023 23:07

Ours just go in with normal washing though, which I'm sure makes us criminals in the eyes of MN. They just go in the laundry basket with everything else.

NutellaNut · 11/09/2023 23:14

I don’t believe the headline about the 3 months at all. It sounds like a completely bogus, made up survey to get publicity for the shower company which issued it. (I know someone who makes up this sort of stuff for a living.)

.)

DresdenDoll · 11/09/2023 23:15

Bedding and towels go in a 60° wash once a week.

mrsfollowill · 11/09/2023 23:17

I remember staying at a friends many years ago (we were late teens but all still lived with mum and dad) . She used three towels a day just for herself and her mum washed them daily! I was amazed- I had my own 2 towels that lived in my bedroom and were dried out daily and they got washed once a week.
Now I'm the 'grown up' DH and I share 2 big bath sheets- DS had his own- all washed weekly. If they smell less than fresh though they get chucked in the wash that day- especially in Summer- Love a line dried fresh towel- same with bedding- normally once a week but if it's a nice day it may get done mid week as well.

readingismycardio · 12/09/2023 04:41

Of those asked, 44% said they would wash their towels after three months or more.

This is extremely worrying
