Is there a solution I could raise with work, to deal with this childcare issue? Term time only nursery

I’m a single/lone parent. I would like my ds to go to a private school nursery in December (he’s 18 months). However, the nursery only runs in term time. I don’t have grandparents to help.

What do people do in this situation? I know the obvious thing is send him to a nursery that runs all year etc etc. But if yours goes to a term time only nursery, how do you make it work?

I changed career to a job that was term time. Engineer to teacher.

You need to find a nursery that runs all year and not just term time.

Or find a nanny for the school holidays.

Child minder for holidays, or choose an all year round one

I have an agreement with work to work from home during the holidays this only works because I do my work in the evenings when the kids are in bed.
If I didn't have this option then they would be in year round nursery/childminder.

We chose a nursery that was open the days and hours we needed it

My CM had kids, including my DD, who did a mixture of nursery and CM once they reached 3.

With one of the kids who was already there when my DD started with the CM, the CM took them to and from the state school nursery, covered the days of the sessions they didn't go to nursery and the school holidays. Others like my DD did certain days at nursery and certain days with the CM.

Thanks to Covid we realised we couldn't rely on one childcare provider. Oh and it is a good thing we did as we have friends whose nurseries had to randomly close due to lack of staff and illness going around the nursery.

What do you do at the moment? And why do you want him to go to this nursery?
Other than ask for some form of term time only there is nothing you can really do with work.

DD1 was in full time nursery till she started school, and then we had a childminder who did pick up and holidays.

DD2 was with the childminder full time, and she took her to nursery for her half day 5 days a week term time....so we paid the childminder for a full time place.

@idesp I sent my DD to a private, term time only nursery as well from age 2 and both DH and I work full time. The nursery ran a holiday club and there are lots of other holiday clubs as well that we could have used.
