To feel guilty about work?

Took a sick day today. I feel seriously guilty missing work when we are only back a while
(teacher). I started off yesterday evening with typical cold symptoms, progressed to temperature. I was awake all night with streaming nose to the point I’d to keep the bin closer to my bed, for tissues, and went through most of a multi pack of tissues! Then back to horrible, sinus/nasal congestion. Some sore throat and bad cough.

AIBU to take today and tmro off work to avoid spreading anything? (Teacher) that’s my main reason for missing work today- not to pass this on to anyone. Also was feeling very unwell though. Weird thing is, I’m feverish, achy but HAVE AN APPETITE. Can anyone shed any light?! Not usually hungry when sick. (Two negative covid antigen tests btw)

I have exactly this right now and I'm laid in bed wondering whether I'll work tomorrow. And I WFH!

Take the day off - if you're ill, you're ill.

Subsequently tested positive for Covid!

Didn’t read the post, scanned the word ‘teacher’ and decided YANBU. Teachers should always take sick days. Teachers are unreasonably pressured to come in when sick. If you died tomorrow your school would replace you within a half term. To your family and friends you are irreplaceable. Health first, always. Even if it’s just a cold or a bug or whatever.
