Dog bite

If your dog was bitten (completely unprovoked) by another dog, what costs would be reasonable to claim? If relevant, dog was on lead, and approached by an off lead dog who attacked.

Costs so far:
Vet bills
Half day off work to take to vet
Petrol for journey

Other dog's owners are taking responsibility, as the other dog was clearly in the wrong.

Vet bill only. You are lucky, when my friends dog was bitten the other owner only offered to pay the insurance excess.

Op was it your dog that bit the other one?

It's horrible either way.

I'm not sure Petrol is relevant? Half day off work maybe if self employed. Tricky.

I think honestly it's vets bills related to the bite.

The vet bills are less than the insurance excess, as I took her to an inexpensive vet. Local ones would have been a lot more expensive.

My dog was bitten. They would never bite another dog. The dog attacked them in a public place out of the blue(not a park)

Clearly not a popular topic. I will just ask for vet bills, but resent being out of pocket for the other costs, for which I have had no control over. Poor dog will be scared as well, plus it being a traumatic event all round.
