To be getting a bit fed up with people commenting on this

Over the last year , I’ve had long covid and also a lot of anxiety & depression . I’m having therapy and I’m trying to look after myself. I’m aware I’ve lost loads of weight , I was quite slim to start with. I’m doing my best to gain weight . I’m getting so fed up with people commenting on my weight loss. I’ve even been told I look awful. I look anorexic- I’m not . AIBU to think people are tactless to comment - I mean most people wouldn’t comment if you’d gained weight.

Could they be expressing concern about you?

I get that many people might be concerned about you, but there’s certain ways to approach asking if you’re ok.

To me, commenting on someone’s weight gain or weight loss is unacceptable unless you’re super close and it’s coming from a place of concern. You’re already doing what you can do to help yourself, so people continuously commenting is just unhelpful

The only time in my life I've EVER had comments about my weight was when I lost a lot of weight quite quickly, due to workplace stress.

I knew their comments came from a place of concern and love.

In your case OP, maybe a "Yes, I've been quite ill, so now I'm trying to put some back on" would silence the comments.
