Refill the pool

I have empied our large pool. Its 16ft by 9ft so holds alot of water. Because I thought the weather has not been all that great plus kids are back at school in a few days . So I empied it. Now I realise we are going to have a week's worth of nice weather. Shall I refill it or just take it down.

Refill!!

lionsleepstonight · 03/09/2023 12:14

Fill it. It will have hardly have been used this summer and you'll regret the next 7 days of sunshine if it sits empty.

drivinmecrazy · 03/09/2023 12:17

Refill!! We were about to empty ours last week so had let it get a bit grimy.
Weather forecast made us rethink.
So have spent the last few days (and a tonne of money!) on algicides and more chlorine to bring it back.
Looking forward to a week of fun before DD2 goes to uni.

DDs are 22&18 and we love doing the thing where you all run round in circles to create a lazy river.
Can't wait to be big kids again 😂

Badgerstmary · 03/09/2023 12:19

Definitely refill

Dbank · 03/09/2023 12:21

Is your water metered?

SirenSays · 03/09/2023 12:21

Take it down. Seems like a lot of water to waste for one week.

WhateverUsernameWillDo · 03/09/2023 12:22

For a week? I'd leave it and not refill until next year.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 03/09/2023 12:23

Refill the pool!
More joy is needed in the world.

drivinmecrazy · 03/09/2023 12:24

Actually the comments about no refill are probably right. It'll take most of a day to fill and then a few days to take the chill off.
Our green water is turning to lovely crystal clear so we'll be all ready to go tomorrow

CarpetDiem · 03/09/2023 12:27

What a waste of water.

It won't be left a few days ti take the chill off kids will get in once its full . I had kind of wanted the garden back. As it takes most of it up. But felt bad for the kids . Its filling now.

I'm using outside tap. If I got a 2nd hose and connected it to the kitchen. Would it fill faster . Or would it just take the pressure away from the outside tap?

Our garden tap is on the same mains pipe as the kitchen. You could put some warm in though.
For those saying it's a waste of water, when Thames water stop all the water leaking all over our roads - including a few amazing fountains - I might consider rationing my water.

sunglassesonthetable · 03/09/2023 12:37

Refill☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️make the most of it! And so fun for the kids to jump in after a hot day of school.

It'll probably rain till March then.

RaininSummer · 03/09/2023 12:37

It would vote no. We have been on a hosepipe ban for months despite a summer of much rain. Is a waste for a week.

Oh, no can't do the hot water it would cost a bomb. Guess I will just have to wait .

Seems a lot of effort for a week or so more of sunshine and presumably DC will be in school for half of it anyway. I think I'd just get some water pistols and the sprinkler on and just have water fights. But guess if you're fine with the cost, go for it. I have absolutely no idea how much it costs to fill a pool like that though! 🤷‍♀️

Monster80 · 03/09/2023 13:05

Refill. September was absolutely boiling last year 👍

Yes I am . 🙄

I'd refill. It the past few years and the current forecast are anything to go by you'll get more than a week of fun from it.

The way we've had nicer weather April/May and then sept/oct the past few years I'd invest in shortie wetsuits from Aldi/Lidl when they next do them and make the most of sunny evenings and weekends!

jallopeno · 03/09/2023 13:13

Have you left water just standing for months?

Rubyupbeat · 03/09/2023 13:26

@jajallopeno you should see our pool when we take the cover off for the season, its green and murky, once those chemicals go in it's like magic after a while, crystal clear.
